I could help you with the problems I encountered when installing Mambo, it's probably similar if not the same, but I don't have time for MSN until thursday, but you can ask here over the forum if you want, I'm sure there are others that can help too...

Why not use Fantastico to install it all and then you just have to go in and alter things and upload your graphic changes.
That should fix up your problem as far as I know.
