EDIT: OK, since I'm logging off now, I'll add a new hint: The band was one of many formed in the late, late 70's, playing a, at that time new refreshing type of music. They are still playing and their songs are about runaway elephants and digging the groove. I'll check by tomorrow and see how you're doing.

It is about James Bond. The music that came in the late 70's was punk. The runaway elephant's (in a previous hint) name was Nellie. It was a smash hit on the radio. I think you can find the band's name now, and the last part (the Jimmy bit) should be a milkrun.

I still have no idea, hints only confused me more, but I'll try with T-Rex...

T-Rex wasn't a punk band. Try search for the given key words. Beside, Marc was killed way too early to be considered.
