Stumbled upon this just today when making a run through the Wikipedia... I think some of you might find it at least interesting.
http://www.benheck.com/Homepage.htm http://benheck.com/book/ http://benwiki.gptheatre.co.uk/index...itle=Main_Page  That guy's creations really broke my weirdness limit for today. SNES not much larger then a Game Boy Micro... wow. :ok: And it looks like I got infected... now I am thinking if it would be possible to miniaturize a 486 in a similar manner. (yeah, there are 486 laptops... but that just isn't the same) |
That's awesome!!!
I wanna a PSone portable like this: http://benheck.com/book/PS1_hand_med.jpg And an Atari2600 portable! I have my old cartridges! http://benheck.com/book/Atari2600_CNC_med.jpg |
Woah funky!! :w00t: are they only for sale on the net? Coz my parents wont buy any net stuff :( Those atari handhelds look mighty fine

Ah, I remember these. He made a few questionable design choices in a few, but overall, nice.

Can you buy ready made versions of these or just the book and project kits?
These do interest me but im lazy and wouldnt want to build one. |

You can buy his book through Amazon and it's supposed to explain in an idiot-proof way how to build any of these. That's the only other option, sorry. But if your father likes messing around with electronics, tell him about "that site you saw where that guy made a SNES into a handheld"... maybe he'll get interested. Quote:
Wow. Just looked around a bit more... WOW. http://www.benheck.com/Games/Sony_pr...p/PS2p%201.htm Now, that one's definitely the most nut-case thing I ever saw... http://www.benheck.com/Games/Sony_projects...%20page%201.htm God... |
WOW he made a PS2 one as well :kosta: that pretty darn impressive.
I wonder if they all have 1.45 hours battery life akin to his PS1. Thats not really long playtime, like he said just long enough to cast 3 spells in FFVII LOL |

Looking more into Ben's site it seems he will indeed build them if the price is right. From his Npod model article "There you have it - my latest NES portable. This one has been sold already but if anyone else wants one like this model I can be convinced to build it pretty easily. (Money helps too) " Dont know how much he would want though |
I don't really like them. They look too bulky.
