If I am not mistaken, certain games on Abandonia like Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring by Interplay and Times of Lore by Origin were previously ESA-protected. They are available for download now. At least I think until a few weeks ago, LotR:FotR was still ESA-protected.
I was wondering in this case when a game previously ESA-protected is freed and available for download, is there a notification about it that I somehow miss? Is there a thread or a news update somewhere concerning this matter? If there is, can someone point me to it? If there is not, and if it is not too much to ask (I would think it may burden the updaters task quite a bit), is it possible to put a short note in the news update (in the Abandonia front page) about when a certain game is freed from ESA and available for download? If so, thanks in advance. If not, not a big deal, just a suggestion. |
I tend to post in the game topic about stuff like that, but you could also have a look at the Calendar (Top right corner of the forum) and jump to January 1st, 2007.
As for the Fellowship of the Ring, that happened months ago, when the entire site was connected to the AW List. |
Really? I thought LotR:FotR still had ESA No-Go button until a few weeks ago, hence I was gladly surprised to find it free to download last Friday/Saturday. Hmm... maybe I confused it with another game. Anyway, thanks for the link.

Yeah, I really don't get how SOMI and MILR will both be abandonware
|
Maybe it's some sort of a deal with ESA? I mean that they'll give back license to host some of these games on AB (at least for MI)...
|
But it's a bit strange, especially for LucasArts, which holds onto its games like if it's the cure for cancer or something.
P.S. - If Loom is being added, remember to get the talkie version, as far as I remember, it's little more than 30 meg. |
We'll see what we'll do, when the time arrives. But with the current deal I have going on with ESA, we are safe to host MI in the following year - but then again, they are also free to tell us to remove it. ;)

Maybe. It's in the future, so it is hard to say. That's why the calendar event tells you to check the AW List ;)
