We are not the underdogs, and we try to stay as legal as possible here.
What HotU does, is up the them.

I'm sorry if this question is stupid, but how does this ESA thing work? I mean, it looks like old, previous AW suddenly is being protected. Do they ever un-protect, so to speak, any games, ever? It would be a shame if the rights owners and ESA, while never re-releasing the old games, still would protect them till the sun blows up, thus preventing the games from being played by younger generations. Please tell me that ESA and the rights owners (Sierra and LA is out of the question, I know  ) do from time to time un-protect games. At all!

For the record. This post is not about getting free games, but about availability.

They indeed do re-releases from time to time, and sometimes allow abandonware sites to offer their games for download... as they allowed us, way back. However, it is very easy to fall out of favor with them.

Agrees.
