Yeah his is the best Windows desktop so far, but I think mine's quite original too. It's not Windows though...

To remove the icons turn on Hide icons when desktop is viewed as a web page in display properties.

If that don't work right click on your desktop then active desktop > view as web page.

I'd post mine but X Windows doesn't seem to like my GPU/monitor, unless it's just set up wrong, so I don't have one :( My XP one is a bit dull really - a Dilbert or Too Much Coffee Man cartoon and some icons.

You know, for a little while all these pics are okay, but most of them would start to annoy me very fast if I had to look at them all the time. Same goes for all those 'personalized' ([offtopic] is it really personalized if it's not made by yourself?[/offtopic])start menus and stuff. But maybe that's just me.

You don't need Gentoo, any Linux distribution will do. It's basically just Fluxbox, gkrellm, wmdrawer and an aterm. Very lightweight and fast, I like it :max:

The icons don't flood the sides for a change. Usually, there're at least five hidden next to the right edge, as they don't fit on the desktop anymore :whistle:

The photo on my desktop was taken by a very very lucky individual. He was photographing the Aurora Borealis (northern lights) just as a volcano began errupting. It's a pretty awesome picture.

There's a button towards the top right of your keyboard, just after F1-12. it says "Print Screen" on it. Go to your desktop and make sure everything looks presentable. Press the "Print Screen" button. Then go into Paint (or the graphics program of your choice) > Edit > Paste. You can then resize this image if you need to and save it as "desktop.png". If this file is small enough, attach it to your post here. If not, consider resizing it or upload it to imageshack (or a file hosting service of your choice).

The image is temporarily stored in your cache. When you open your image editing program and press CTRL-V (or choose paste from one of the menus) your screenshot will be pasted. Easy as pie :)

I did that too, just dumped everything in the my documents folder :). Once in a while that's really necessary.

Press ''print screen'' when viewing your desktop, then paste it using Paint for example. Reduce the size and save it as a *.JPG file to take up less space.

I personnaly use IrfanView to change graphic files type. Using it a lot to post my Transport Tycoon Deluxe Challenge images. It been given to me by someone from this board too.

I think it's a free program. Fire up your prefered search engine and you should find it. :ok:

I use Irfanview as well. It is very useful.

I've always been really neat and organized....my top looked like that long before you guys made this competition. Inside that "everything" folder is probably about 600 programs and documents. :D

Hey S.E.E. I have a sure shot advice for ya. Use HyperSnap DX to screenshot. Then save the shot a jpeg and upload it. No more fuss believe me :ok:

there are 3 icons I use on thsi desktop... msn messgener, bt connect and firefox.
everything else is either start menu, auto play from the cd drive or I go into my drive. G drive. Games drive... I know where everything is on my drive. more or less..

Well it came with my mini-disc. But you can import song files into it and put them in whatever playlist you want, but you would probably have a hard time transferring them if they are not mp3, everything else you have to copy straight into Sonic Stage from your CD's.
