I busted my foot and am going on a trekking holiday...
Last night, right in the first ten minutes of training I fractured the metatarsils and cuboid (the outside of the foot, known as the foot-sword in Martial Art).
I can't walk. I should've retired and left instead of aggravating it, but I am stupid. We're supposed to be going on a walking and trekking holiday in a few weeks, so I am going to do as little as possible - I have to crawl everywhere atm. The steps to the bathroom are the worst. Especially at night. Hopefully, by RICE'ing it and just laying up, it will be okay in a few week's time. At least enough so that I am not in as much pain when walking. I can't even stand today. Therefore, I am probably not going to be around as much for a while. Firstly - Because I am not going to waste NHS time on something as simple as a broken bone that I can set myself. This means that I'll probably be quite short tempered as I won't get painkillers and pain makes me aggressive. Secondly - Because we are going on holiday. Even if my foot isn't better. I am so pissed off that it happened now. If but if but yeah but no but. Just deal with it, pete, ffs... |
So, it was broken after all? Sorry to hear that! What a shame about your foot... I hope it heals fast!

I don't know if it's such a smart idea not getting medical help ....
Had the same thing happened to me some 35 years ago, a broken bone in my right foot, didn't go to a doctor, healed within a week or so , all good so far. But now ... seems the bone wasn't healed in line properly and the problems begin. There is a spot where the bone was broken that develop some kind of arthritis, kinda painful, maybe they gonna have to break that bone again and do some cutting /scraping or even remove that bad healed bone completely. Yeah, getting old I guess, and paying for the sins of a wild youth now. Damn. Just saying, we're no doctors, self medication can be a hazard. |
Sorry to hear this, I think dosraider is right btw...think about it twice.

I think that, because of all the injuries I've had to deal with (on other people as well as myself) through Martial Art, that it is just hairline-fractures. I don't want to put more burden on our overworked NHS unless absolutely necessary. If it doesn't look any better than these photo's by Monday - I'll go to the hospital and get them to look at it. Thanks for the concern, though, guys! :) I'm remaining optimistic that it will be okay in a few weeks, in time for holiday, going on how I've healed before. I used to heal really quickly. But then, I used to be a lot younger and a lot fitter than I am now... |
Poor dosraider. And poor Saccade. No wonder you're both so cranky. I'll give you both a tub of icecream (for the feet). And crutches. Nothing hurts the hands like crutches. And people don't get far enough out of your way... Next time, i figure i'll just put my crutch down on their toes. But here's hoping i don't sprain an ankle again...
