Problem with sound in Syndicate & some other problems

I have a problem with sound in syndicate. It simply doesen't work. i tried changing the line where it sets the IRQ, DMA etc. but it still doesent' work. quite a few years ago i played it form original CD and i remember i also had problems setting up the sound. now it's even more difficult because the packed file doesen't contain any setup programme.

oh i tried the EMS dos mode, WIN98 command prompt only etc. i am using a creative labs sound blaster. and the game works normaly appart from no sound.

here are the start up files:
-----------------
Autoexec.bat
-----------------
rem call C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\_nw_nds.bat C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM

Another thing are Deadly games. i keep getting the "error:Problem reading CD rom. PLease check " evethough i changed the drive letter.
i also tried putting it on root directory but it doesen't seem to have any effect. is there any other cd.rom file? or a file that determins the CD letter?
oh BTW i have some other version of deadly games (not downloaded from abandonia) but i think it's the same one.

And last i donwloaded Centurion. Nice game. Everything works. except.... well i counquered entire world and nothing happened. :? i mean the game should end right? or do i have to do something else to finish it.

ups.... he, he, he.... you may ignore my last Ceturion "problem". i obviously forgot Crete and Sardinia. one (or two) small vilages continued to rebel against the might of roman empire.... sound familiar. :D

i would appreciate help on other problems as they still remain.

Hmmm, I am not CERTAIN, but I believe that this verson of syndicate is actually without sounds :( Don't take me for granted, but your setup seems fine, and if you have sounds in other games, I can't figure out what the problem could be!

maybe it's a problem with command that is executed in the begining of syndicate. it goes like this:

main.exe >nul: /iirq5 /idma1 /iio$220 /c0

i found out that C in the end is for language while others oviously define the sound card. it might well be that there are no sound on this versions. however the game has files sound.dat.

oh well i will try someother tricks.

I do experience the same problem with Syndicate.
I heard sound in one Win98 machine and didn't hear anything in another Win98 machine, so I think it's something with luck, not with the prgs.
Any solutions?

In the world of computers... noting is luck... it's details....

Different soundcard-hardware?
Different software vers.?
Different hardware added during OS installation?
Different vers. of soundcard-drivers?

you can go on like this...
