opera is kind of pointless.
why would people use spam-ware when they can get firefox?

this is the funniest part about the opera sales pitch;

Key Features
Pop-up Blocking

No more annoying pop-up advertisements. Opera lets you control whether Web sites can use pop-ups. Select to block them all, or let the browser open only pop-ups that you have requested.

Why buy?

When you buy and register Opera, the ad-banner in the upper-right corner of the Opera toolbar is removed. Additionally, Opera users have access to personal support team via e-mail.

Yep, whether Firefox is the best or not is open to debate (I think it is!) but one thing is pretty much certain - It's better than Opera.

Firefox has a built in downloader and though the mail isn't built in it works well with the Thunderbird Mail Client. You can customise it much more than you can Opera and it doesn't have the annoying ad-bar that you get with the free version of Opera. It has a built in search for Google, Yahoo, eBay, Amazon and you can install a search for Abandonia!. You can also easily set up key words for your favourite sites and I find the bookmarks toolbar much more accessible in Firefox than in Opera. It will also autocomplete addresses, which sometimes ends in some very strange results but most of the time it works fine. For example - just type abandonia and it will add the www. and .com to the address. And in my experience, it's much faster than Opera. It's also pleasant to look at while Opera has windows and ads taking up most of your browsing space.

Think that proves the point! :D

Oh, and this should really be in Technical, not Blah, Blah, Blah!

I see no reason to get Opera. I'm a tight friend with Firefox already. ;)

John Watts 22-01-2005 08:39 AM

Ok you can use junk :)

FreeFreddy 22-01-2005 08:42 AM

I won't take this as offense now. Junk is actually Internet Explorer, calling Firefox junk is ignorance...

Sebatianos 22-01-2005 08:46 AM

Yet I still have no trouble using the Explorer and guess what - no pop-ups bother me (must be because I don't visit sites that have them... - It's 10:50, do you know wher your children are surffing?).

If you want to call Firefox junk, at least tell us why. We all backed up our arguments with reasons!

And I never used to get pop-ups much with IE either. I just decided to try Firefox and I personally preferred it. I'm certainly not anti-IE. I only ever got pop-ups from HOTU but then maybe I deserved them! LOL
