Zool 2 Issues

I would like to review Zool 2 since it is on the list of games needing reviews. The cracked version on the site bypasses copy protection but the game completely freezes on Level 2, Stage 1. It happens with both characters you have a choice of playing.

I also tried to find another copy on the Internet. The copies I found functioned in the same manner, locking up at the same point. Some versions also had minor changes that would probably only be noticeable to anyone who had a different version to compare to.

In any event, I downloaded the CDClone copy from the ISO Cellar. Everything appears to be good with the download. I am not in a position where I can burn a CD, so I am hoping I can rely on faking it. I am also hoping the CDClone isn't cracked because I think I can work out the protection, if given the chance.

I have tried variations of virtual drives, imgmount and the closest I have come to anything other than "ERROR: Not running from CD-Rom." was the 'CLICK' of the speaker and a black screen.

Things tried:
Daemon Tools virtual drive E: pointing to C:\oldgames\zooltemp\zool2.cue
DOSBox -
mount e e:\ -t cdrom
mount c c:\oldgames\zool2
or
imgmount c c:\oldgames\zooltemp\zool2.cue -t iso

and combinations like that. What am I doing or not doing?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

DOH!

:headslap:
Thanks! It figures that I was overlooking the obvious.

I just proved the saying, "No matter how much you idiot-proof something, they always build a better idiot!"

Now for Nth amount of time I need to get Zool or Zooz back to the same point in the game.

If that makes it work, it would be nice to leave a comment at the DOSBox compatibility database

I had a problem with the FLI animations not showing. The eventual solve was the number of cycles was too high - 2600 cycles is optimal, nothing higher than that though.

I posted comments on the site from the link you provided, Japo. Good idea, thank you!
