So... There's talk of a new Doctor Who movie.

Seriously. Not only that, David Yates, the apparent director of the film, says he plans to more or less ignore the continuity. Granted, it would make an easier job for the writers, but even so...

Any Whovians in the Abandonian ranks wanna chime in on this?

Sounds like a bad idea to me, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

There have been film-length Who episodes in the past (starring Peter Cushing and Paul McGann), so it's not exactly a new idea.

My only worry is that we'll end up with yet another Dalek story, when the series has covered them too much.

I'm actually watching the "Planet of the Spiders" episodes right now, classic John Pertwee Doctor Who, though not the best of episodes.

I'm totally in two minds about this. It could be the best thing ever or a complete travesty.

ONLY TIME WILL TELL :D

If the movie has NO comparison to the series, I have an easy explanation for it.

"Meh, Alternate universe & who. Not the same 'place'."

Pretty much do that for ALL the butchered up 'based on' movies. :D
Allows me to both enjoy the original AND the movie.

It's a no-no, funding fell through - and even if there was massive room in the TV shows budget that could be appropriated for a film, it wouldn't be legal as the TV show is publicly funded. Plus the writers weren't too happy about the discontinuity of the film.

Probably for the best.
