Yeah, when I saw that screenshot, I thought "What the heck?!". However, unlike Albion - which, despite featuring brief partial nudity as well, got a KA rating (Kids to Adults; original version of the Everyone rating) - CyberMage at least got an M rating, which included Mature Sexual Themes as one of the descriptors, so I don't feel nearly as bad as with Albion in terms of unexpectedness.

Have to agree with you 100%, mako river. I was actually reviewing the game myself, but you obviously beat me to the punch :) . Oh, and one thing I would've added to the review, but this game is actually WORSE than Duke Nukem Forever in one (arguably minor) account - the CyberMage huffs and puffs like crazy anytime he moves! At least the Duke only does this when he's running.

Here's a nice review of the game:
http://www.cyberpunkreview.com/cyber...ght-awakening/

CyberMage boasts an extensive array of innovative features, may of which became standard only much later. It's a pity that the game got largely overlooked and could not compete with the more streamlined games in the genre niche. Perhaps CyberMage was just too much ahead of its time in so many respects, and not in the least in that it would need a lot of resources to perform at its highest.

Speaking of which, the only thing with the game so far is that I've been unable to make it run smoothly in DOSBox in high-res at the largest screen size.

MrFlibble 05-07-2011 03:51 PM

I figured the game runs quite nicely in high-res mode if you shrink the screen one step down from the full screen size. At least, it's still better than the low-res full-screen version IMO.

I must also say that even though the controls are quite unorthodox compared to the mainstream contemporaries of CyberMage, they certainly aren't random or inconvenient, and I got kind of accustomed to them.

I get an error. Its says (ERROR) create C:\CM\CMDATA.CNF. How do I get around that? Ireally want to play this game. It even does it with the ISO.

dosraider 16-03-2012 05:29 AM

I don't get an error. Runs fine, and in higher res as described by MrFlibble.

So we can presume that your mounts/install choices/whatever/something is/are wrong.

catchaserguns 16-03-2012 10:08 PM

Here is my mounts.
Mount C C:\oldgames\CM
C:
CM
What is wrong with that. I like to know.

dosraider 17-03-2012 12:25 AM

Try this:

Mount c c:\oldgames\
c:
cd cm
cm

About what's wrong with your mount:
You directly mount the game folder as C:
Was NEVER so in plain dos.
You ALWAYS started from C: and did a 'cd name'
Whilst your mount can work for many games, many others will not be able to find the needed subdirs.

The game expects a c:\cm\ directory structure (folder)
Whilst with your mount you only have a c: and no c:\cm\ in dosbox

Thank you. That did it. Its one of those game you can't use a front end on. That explains why a lot of games don't seem to work with a frontend.:OK:
