I'm looking for a good RPG that holds my attention for longer than 10 minuets ;)

I've tried a few of the older Ultima games and I don't like having to write the dialogue. It'd also be nice to be able to choose race and alignment. Graphics are not an issue (note that I am a C64 user ;) ).

Just something with lot's of neat places and characters :)

EDIT: Oh, yeah, and I'm mostly looking for Freeware or Abandonware, but any reccomendations to games that are still being sold are also accepted :)

Have you tried the RPGs that are on this site, and also AR? :)

Amberstar/moon are two of the best.
Arcanum is a great rpg.
Albion is very nice.
Bloodwych too.

Well, the thing is I have to pay per MB for the stuff I download so I don't want to DL every single game from the site ;)

@efthimios: Thanks, I'll check those out :)

I really liked laxius power, its an rpg made in rpg maker 2000, so something similar looking to final fantasy 4-5

Just to be clear, you mean ES 1. Because ES 3, Morrowind, is still for purchase.

Though Oblivion should be out, early in December.

I just tried FF Endless Nova. Completely lost track of time with it and it's way past my bedtime ;)

Will try some of the games you mentioned and please do mention some more if they come to mind :)

I tried Morrowind the other day on my bro's PC (since it wont run on mine). Looks pretty darn good but it's a bit slow though.
