I recently downloaded WinUAE, but I'm facing a small problem in it: It asks for the Kickstart files (which I downloaded afterwards), and even though I pasted KS on every folder of the emulator, it still doesn't run or identifies it.

Any idea why? Do you know where I should put it? Do you have a version that is working?

Thanks.

ps: Both UAE and KS are freeware, this isn't breaking any abandonia rules.

the kickstart is still copyright by someone (it changes hands often) if you own a real amiga (even a broken one) you can use a kickstart file in an emulator as "fair use".

anyway what you need to do is in the settings, ROM select one of the locations of the kickstart file. you're definately going to need to RTFM a lot more to get the most out of WINUAE ... it has a LOT of settings and you wont always use the same ones all the time.

Actually, it doesn't matter where you put the kickstart. You have to go into the WinUAE properties, select the ROM tab, and then browse for the file.

And downloading kickroms is illegal, unless you own it already.

Edit: Oh, I see Xoopx beat me to it.

Huh... Thought Kickstart software was part of the emulator, since the amiga version was a chip. But thanks, it's working now.

I just want it to play one little game that I bought years ago for PC (stupid disks won't work anymore), but only find it amiga version on the web now, so I guess it's not that bad, is it?

aye its going off on a tangent a bit, but for games that came out ONLY on protected floppy disks, playing a cracked or emulated version is often the ONLY way you can play a game you PAYED FOR after the disks have died.

WinUAE will also find rom, if you have correct one. (for example cloanto's roms)

What game you'll play?

I would suggest Lionheart, which is free, as developer released it for free.
