Aw poop! I just had a great idea and then you pop up the poll!

Can you add the "Lucha Libre" in the poll?

@Havell-Merci Beaucoup! Or should i rather say: Mucho gracias!

Havell 01-04-2006 05:48 PM

Since you got in so quickly and asked so nicely, yes.

Tulac 01-04-2006 06:05 PM

Kitsch FTW! :bleh:

Scarface 01-04-2006 06:21 PM

a1s 01-04-2006 06:54 PM

ew.

I never thought this day would come, but I guess I'll have to vote for firefox (aka browsers), well at least I can be nonconformist and have a IE avatar (that will be so lame that it'll be cool).

Abi79 01-04-2006 07:21 PM

Viva la Lucha Libre!!!

BeefontheBone 01-04-2006 08:12 PM

Game shows! I want to get Richard O'Brien on your asses! :P

Frodo 01-04-2006 08:32 PM

Voted Spectrum.

gregor 02-04-2006 11:01 AM

Why does Firefly have a question mark written next to it?

Havell 02-04-2006 11:52 AM

Because I don't know what it is. And I did look on Wikipedia and found an obscure TV show, but that didn't aid my understanding.

EDIT @ Grinder, if you think there's a shortage of good themes, just suggest some. This goes to everyone else too, the Avatar Weeks rely on everyone suggesting themes.

gregor 02-04-2006 01:59 PM

Obscure?

Hmm... Well it's a very good tv SF series that was hit by so called Fox Curse. Yeah they canceled the show after first season, not ebcause it wasnt' popular, but because it wasn't popular enough.

Anyway fans bought DVD's, variour trinkets etc. This helped the creators to finance the movie called - Serenity (after the ship in the series). The series is about some outlaws in the future and has Chinese/Wildwest touch to it. It is both funny and intriguing.

Some fact from Wiki:

Quote:

--------
Fans (self-named Browncoats) attributed the low ratings in part to actions of the FOX Network — most notably the fact that FOX had aired the episodes out of chronological order, making the plot much more difficult to follow. For instance, the two-hour episode "Serenity" was intended to be the series' premiere episode, and therefore contained most of the character introductions and back-story. However, FOX decided that "Serenity" was not suitable to open the series, and so the second episode, "The Train Job", was rushed into production to become the episode aired. In addition, Firefly was promoted as an action-comedy rather than the more serious character study it was intended to be. Episodes were occasionally preempted for sporting events.

----------

Awards

* * * Emmy Award: Outstanding Special Visual Effects for a Series, 2003
* * * Visual Effects Society: Best visual effects in a television series, 2003 (episode "Serenity")
* * * Saturn Award: Cinescape Genre Face of the Future Award, Male, 2003 (Nathan Fillion)
* * * Saturn Award: Saturn Award for Best DVD Release (television), 2004

--------
By September of 2005, its DVD release had sold approximately 500,000[3] copies, and was one of the top movers at both Amazon.com and DeepDiscountDVD.com for months. As of March 2006, Firefly is still in Amazon.com's top 25 for DVD sales. This is notable, considering that the other 24 top sellers are no older than 2 months, while the Firefly box set has been out since 2003.

bruno 02-04-2006 03:42 PM

iīm watching the latest weeks and i didnīt like the themes, this week is the some, but i vote in the theme that i like a little bit: tv game shows...

Frodo 02-04-2006 07:24 PM

Well it's after 8pm, and Spectrum games have the most votes.

:D

Havell 02-04-2006 07:42 PM

I declare Speccy Games the winner!

Tulac 02-04-2006 09:27 PM

Didn't we already have 80's games week? This is almost identical (even less choice) and yes I made my own proposition so I'm not whining without a reason...

"less choice"?
I believe there are over 600 Spectrum games (sorry, I don't know them all  ), so I would say there is plenty of "material" there...

Well, of course that if all the 6000 members decide to get in this week's avatar theme, it could be complicate LOL

:bleh:

Even so, I recognise you might be right about that "80's games week" being identical, but why shouldn't we have it?

Right now I am more curious to know for how long we can keep this "little game"...

Tulac 03-04-2006 09:20 AM

Well the thing is it shouldn't be repetitive so I'll add a few more propositions:
  • Super Heroes (this might've been already I don't remember)
  • Horses
  • Forum Members (put their personal pictures as avatars)
  • 70's (anything associated with 70's)
  • Flowers (this also might've been but I don't recall)
  • Kitsch

Bobbin Threadbare 03-04-2006 09:39 AM

Mine's pretty crap...

Can we have LucasArts games as a theme choice? (Yes, my av will be different.)

#BlakhOle# 03-04-2006 11:44 AM

I have some ideas.

1. Beer cans (dont ask why, it was the first thing that came in my mind  )
2. Favourite actors
3. Favourite Game actors
4. Parents and/or Siblings

Plus i liked the idea for the super heroes. :ok:

bruno 03-04-2006 01:30 PM

i like this: Forum Members (put their personal pictures as avatars)

Rogue 03-04-2006 01:43 PM

No one is forcing you to participate in avatar theme week (nor to post here :))

ZX Spectrum does deserve to be week avatar theme.

If you are too lazy to emulate ZX Spectrum and can't find descent screenshot to make an avatar, then just go to The Video Game Museum spectrum floor and make an image from screens that are available there. :)

gregor 03-04-2006 05:00 PM

Agitating for next week:

You can't take the sky from me!

Rogue 03-04-2006 05:04 PM

To keep retro-theme, next weeks one should be C64. :D :ok:

Nope, but I would like to, I mean the point of avatar themes is to be diverse as possible, I think that zx spectrum is the record low by popularity (only saw 3-4 avatars), and if you would have C64 games you would have something almost the same, what's next Atari ST 260 games?

Never heard of that one. :D

ZX is much older then most members here.

There was an 80's cartoon week, but I don't think we had an 80's game week.

@ Blakhole
Favourite Game Actors - Brilliant suggestion. :D

well, I can count at least 4 posts from diferent members that decided to participate (and mine it's the fifth) - BTW, mine is from "Mooncresta" and maybe I should "magnify" it a little bit.

I think, as it's the last week of Lent, we can give up avatar themes for this week. That means everyone switchs back to their normal avatars at 8pm Sunday.

TheChosen 08-04-2006 10:32 AM

Fantasy Monsters
Disney
RPG Character Classes
