With GOG now selling this could a link on the page be placed to GOG, instead of the ESA Protected image?

It seems WGI (the current owners) are not willing to release the game with the last official patch (as would be the sensible thing to do) and the authors of the unofficial patch are not willing to give away their work with no credit nor compensation.

Unfortunately, this is a rather sticky situation - a bit over a year before GOG started selling the game, WGI directly requested us to remove the downloads.
