Help with 4x4 Off Road Racing

Hi, again. I'm having some difficulty with 4x4 Off Road Racing by Epyx.
After I run the program in D-Fend, the selection screen immediately comes up. Then after I choose EGA and select the joystick, the screen immediately changes to black. I've been experimenting with D-Fend's video settings to pull up the title screen, but no luck.

Could it be my version of DosBox (I've got 0.74) or some other problem? As before, I have a Sony Vaio UCV070XEUM with a Pentium 4 CPU with 2.53 GHz.
Sorry for being a pest, but I don't know what to do next.

Thanks for any advice.

Run it in DOSBox directly, without using D-Fend.

Also if that doesn't help, try running the game in DosBox 0.73 as some games don't run as well in, or have problems with 0.74.

It works for me in 0.74 without changing any settings.

Hi Billy, answering to your PM, first of all I mean I'm not using D-Fend or any other program. Also, are you running DOSBox in a window or fullscreen? For me it works both ways, but if you're in fullscreen try pressing Alt+Enter to go into windowed mode, in case it works that way.

The game works for me with the default configuration of DOSBox. That means you can delete your existing configuration file, by clicking on the "reset options" shortcut on your "start menu > programs > DOSBox-0.74 > options" folder. (Or if you have edited it and don't want to lose it, you can move it someplace else.) So there's no configuration file whatsoever that I could show you.

Then take the "4x4.exe" file that starts the game, and drop it onto the DOSBox shortcut (either on the desktop or in the start menu) like this post explains (either drag 'n drop or copy-paste it).

This works for me, let us know if it doesn't for you.
