Well this topic is for those people who took little interest in a certain MMO, and realized that they had a blast with it. Here's mine:
1. RF (Rising Force or Romance and Fantasy) Online: took little interest in it, because leveling up was so slow in level 40 above (max level capped at 50) and seemed hard to level up the Pt. But now I'm having a blast playing it. I have a level 19 Warrior now. leveling up the Pt was really easy, except for range. there are different synergies with this game. It's real fun. Fun Factor: 9.6/10 2. Perfect World Online: Wow. A chinese themed MMORPG, usually I ain't fond of these. This is the only exception. While it's in Open Beta, it's great because there is little to no lag on monster areas so you have a smooth time killing monsters. Plus there are many quests for easy XP, easy leveling. You gain XP just doing everything. No hassles or complaints. Fun Factor: 9.1/10 What about you? |
Never thought I'd like America's Army because it seemed like a fancy pants Counter-Strike (which I despise) but in reality it was more like a cooperative online Rainbow Six, very cool.
|
Well the U.S. government uses it to train soldiers (i thinky)
|
No they don't lol, it was developed by the Army.
|
AA led to a very unusual form of protest
http://www.gamespy.com/pc/americas-army/709854p1.html a guy got himself killed time and time again on purpose. Each time he had changed his name to one of the soldiers that died in Iraq. took screenshots. lather, rinse and repeat.. There's persistence for ya. I'm sure I'd get sick of it after just a few deaths. |
BP: It does serve it's purpose of training soldiers. Now who says video games can't be educational? (My dad LOL)
|
The US doesn't use AA to train soldiers. It is a tool to recruit.
I don't know why people think it is this major training propaganda game. It really isn't. |

You did not specify client based MMOs, so I will write which browser based ones I like:
http://www.UrbanDead.com - Zombies versus survivors. It's hard, I don't know how rewarding, but if you are in a good faction, then you will have lots of fun. Members of Abandonia's forums have created in the past the faction named The Abandoned. While original members have left, me and Doubler are still there, along with many other people. Level limit 42. http://www.NexusWar.com - Angels, Demons and plain people, in a fight for existance. It has lots of features, like spells, crafting, alchemy, pets, combat with swords, melee weapons, hand to hand etc. Updates aren't taking place often, but when they do, they are big. The Abandoned are also present here. Level limit hard to achieve: 30. http://www.SWCombine.com - Star Wars browser game. In existence since 1998, with a huge community, friendly people, lots of roleplaying, and many features. Combat still isn't present, but it will be next year. NPCs, factions like the Trade Federation, Rebels, Galactic Empire, extensive rules, has many, if not all, Star Wars planets, ships, weapons and armor. No level limit, but leveling takes a high amount of time. All three are free to play, with Combine needing a paid email address -from your ISP, for example, not Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo etc. Donations are accepted by all of the games, but as a reward, you do not get items or abilities which can affect the game - no boosts, no special items, no new features. The above text might sound like an ad, because I like the games way too much :P |
