How can I get wing commander privateer to work using dosbox and/or D-Fend2?

I did disable ems and it still doesn't work.

Did you disable EMS in Dosbox's configuration file?

Yep. it comes up with this:

Can you tell me that that means and how to it it?

hmm the error there looks like you configured your sound(card) wrong in privateer

yes but you still need to configure your sound correctly
there is probably an install.exe file or so
