Did they remove the download? Or am I simply blind? (those web 2.0 sites... few pictures and lots of whitespace, less text & info)

You'd be right - not only is the link dead, there's also no download link on the new site. Instead, they point you to EA's site to buy Command & Conquer: The First Decade. If the game is still freeware, it's a really stinky move IMO.

The "funny" part is that I didn't download it when it was released for free (I was too lazy to make some HDD space, doh!) and now...

I also have the original freeware installer, but since it's 1.2gb or so, you might want to get it from one of those sites.

As far as I understand, it's still freeware.

Thanks for the links. The first one has bandwidth exceeded ATM.
Second one says

Unzip the .RAR file to C:\Program Files directory, after completion the file structure should begin with the EA Games folder
Is this how the game was released? You mentioned proper installer?

EDIT: looks like it was:

I had to look in the archive.org:

to get this link:

I have a rip that would suit the main page, but haven't tested it yet.

My mistake here. I have to admit I've never looked inside the .rar because I own a few versions of this game (Digial hoarder, virtually unlimited HDD space... Downloaded it anyway). It doesn't look too difficult to unpack. Looking inside the .rar, it has the directory structure of a simple rip from the TFD release install with a .reg file.

I can make an installer for this using either the original cd set or TFD disk and the source TibSun freeware rar if there is interest. The game is still 1.3 gig (it originally came on two CD's and then a disk for Firestorm), so still way too large for the main page.

Updates are difficult too. I have the complete update tree and map packs that go with TibSun, just in case. Unfortunately, the game isn't ...reeeeeally... that good. The map generator is cool, but... well.. if you've played it you know what I mean.

Anyway, if there is interest, I can help.

Thanks for all the details.

I'm really surprised they did it this way... previously they've released both C&C and Red Alert as disk images (2 CD per game), so why didn't they do that again?

I hate/will not/cannot install to Program Files directory, this would force me to modify that regedit file.

Well they do provide the reg key for it, and upon looking at it, it's almost exactly the same as the installed key. Like I said, I can repack the whole thing if there's enough interest. I am a little confused why they didn't just release a combination iso.
