This is appreciated, and I wanted to play this game.

But badongo sucks! could you possibly upload this somewhere better?

(I don't like badongo anyway, but I decided I would install their crappy spyware etc just for this game, only to find out that the site wont even work! and I've been trying for 3 days)

Thanks for upping this game though

derboo 01-12-2009 11:13 AM

I had chosen badongo because the "1GB file limit" in the hosting thread led me to think that I could upload it without splitting, which turned out false. I'll try to upload it again somewhere else soon...

DarthSidious 04-12-2009 06:33 PM

I canīt download from Badongo either. Can you choose another host, please?

Saccade 06-12-2009 03:56 PM

http://cdn5d.badongo.com/00081C/imag...on_li.2429.png
Step 1 - Download the individual parts of the file into a folder on your computer. Remember where you put em!

http://cdn5d.badongo.com/00081C/imag...on_li.2429.png
Step 2 - Download the merger file.

http://cdn5d.badongo.com/00081C/imag...on_li.2429.png
Step 3 - Browse to the folder where you downloaded the file to and make sure you have all the files needed!

http://cdn5d.badongo.com/00081C/imag...on_li.2429.png
Step 4 - Double-click the merger file to start the process.
You will see a small command prompt window appear.

http://cdn5d.badongo.com/00081C/imag...on_li.2429.png
Step 5 - You will be asked if you wish to delete the parts that are no longer needed. Click 'YES' for this.

This is a *really* poor site...
Anywhere that asks you to install some kind of client to ensure that you get the file you want is suspect in my book.

If you can't do it manually, don't trust the machines.

Oh BTW I've read somewhere that this game had a sequel, do u know something about it? :mhh:

derboo 08-12-2009 01:32 PM

http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/nightstorm/storm.htm

That's all I know about the sequel.

derboo 10-12-2009 01:24 AM

One other thing about the game: In WinXP and VDMSound, it might be necessary to toggle NumLock, to stop the hero from constantly jumping around.

Deadpool_DX 16-12-2009 10:47 PM

Thanx!

Thanks a lot, derboo!
I appreciate very much your effort. One of the best games of this type I've ever played. Really a hidden gem.

razgrizglenn 23-12-2009 11:12 AM

Can this game run proplerly on WinXP? If so, how? After installing it, I get a screen that says something about a CD. Should I burn the disc instead of using a virtual drive? Also, can it run on windowed mode?

derboo 24-12-2009 02:23 AM

The only way to run it in a window is DOSBox.

It should work in plain XP, though without sound effects. Dunno with this game, but sometimes games want the disc to be in the first CD drive (with the lowest drive letter).

If you're using VDMSound, you need to activate MSCDEX emulation.

klee123 26-12-2009 02:39 AM

Hey guys, I'm trying to get this game to work, but having problems. I'm currently using Windows 7 but attempting to play the game using dosbox. However, every time I try to run the exe file, I get a notification saying something about the CD I presume. I've already mounted the image and burnt it onto a disc, but still no luck getting past the initial screen.

derboo 26-12-2009 06:34 AM

Note that you have to mount the CD in DOSBox properly as a CD-Rom drive. Add the option "-t cdrom" (without quotation marks) to the mount command.

klee123 26-12-2009 11:50 AM

Do I have to mount the CD rom drive seperately? I usually just mount the game directory. I use this command

mount c c:\night

Also, is the CD rom directory correct?

The image shows d:\night\ on my PC. Perhaps it's meant to be d:\ to access the files?

dosraider 26-12-2009 01:25 PM

Mount your virtual C: in dosbox and your CD as D:

I'm sorry, but I don't quite follow you. Would you guys be able to show me the command line on dosbox for me?

I've burnt the game onto a CD which is D:\

For the installed game directory it's c:\Night

Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

derboo 26-12-2009 05:43 PM

Then this is the line you have to add:

mount d d:\ -t cdrom

That virtual C: mount can get you in troubles, Win7 absolutely does not like programs that write on C:, to avoid all kinds of protection problems read and apply:
http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=22241
And yes, you must mount also your CD, or use imgmount to mount the image directly in dosbox as CDdrive D:

Hey guys, yeah I've added mounted the cd rom drive and still no luck, I still get the screen at the start where it just shows a picture of a CD as well as a female character.

Is it perhaps the directory I installed the game into?

razgrizglenn 27-12-2009 05:41 AM

I... really didn't get how to do it either, really. Or how DOSBox works, for that matter (even after reading millions and millions of faqs and guides about it). If someone could make a mini-tutorial about running this game specifically (I've found many general guides, but none'd work) using either a frontend or dosbox itself, I'd really, REALLY appreciate it.

EDIT: Well, I got past the CD screen an' all, and am able to get to the menu. Deal is, after I select the option to start the game, the screen goes black and it seems to crash. Any ideas?

derboo 28-12-2009 01:13 PM

I'm out of ideas for DOSBox. Maybe give VDMSound a try? (remember to activate MSCDEX emulation if you do)

Mad_Man 22-03-2010 02:34 PM

I'm in the same situation as razgrizglenn, I tried to run it with DOSBox, using commands "mount d d:\ -t cdrom" and the title screen is the last working part of the game. I'm using DOSBox 0.72 and that might be the problem. With which version of emulator game works for you guys?

derboo 27-03-2010 02:47 PM

OK, I found a dosbox-friendly file.

This is a cracked version that runs without the CD, but you'll only get music if the CD image is properly loaded in dosbox.

arete 28-03-2010 07:36 PM

Try asking at the vogons forum (don't worry, they won't read you any poetry) whether 7.3 might solve your problem, or hang around and wait for aunty uncle Dosraider.

Mad_Man 31-03-2010 09:04 AM

Yay, nocd version works fine with Dosbox and without it. Music works with mounted cs and no crashes :D I owe you one, derboo.

_r.u.s.s. 31-03-2010 02:12 PM

thanks for the share, derboo
now we can put it on a main site too!

would you like to write a few words about the game? i'd be great to have a review from someone who knows the game well

derboo 02-04-2010 01:18 PM

Hmm, right now I'm kinda burnt out on writing about the game. If you want you can ask Discoalucard from Hardcore Gaming 101 if it's OK to take my article from there and shorten it a bit to put on here. Or I can write something later this year. Or if someone else would like to write one...

_r.u.s.s. 02-04-2010 02:53 PM

allright, i shall contact him .. but i hope i won't sound like a scammer.. me asking for your review on that website instead of you...

edit: ok, i got a permission from the admin, we can post the review

derboo 08-04-2010 02:29 PM

Allright, feel free to shorten it as you see fit (the site probably won't need the character introductions).

If you care for my score, it would be a 5.

Is it "allowed" to mention the ISO cellar on the main page? Then there could be info added that the two versions can be used together (rip version with original image for music & better DOSBox compatibility)

_r.u.s.s. 08-04-2010 11:30 PM

sure, i will add that info about that

_r.u.s.s. 16-04-2010 11:00 PM

okay, game is up!

nizzoatlarge 04-06-2010 09:56 PM

Thanks......Its a shame the entire gaming community didnt get a chance to enjoy this awesome beat em up.

derboo 12-10-2011 08:44 AM

Rapidshare just emailed me that the files are impending deletion. I guess they can be saved when someone downloads them in that time?

Deletion of the files is imminent once again...

snowmands 11-03-2012 01:29 AM

Links are down :( Any chance for a re-upload? I have been having a lot of fun with the game.. but it just isn't the same without the music.

dillerkind 24-03-2012 11:02 AM

I want to ask for a re-upload, too. Reading all the praise for the game's music woke my curiosity. So, if the game could be re-upped that would be great. Thanks in advance.

Treleus 20-04-2012 03:08 AM

Here here with dillerkind. I love me some great brawling music. Thanks for all of your awesome work, Abandonia.

Maison72 02-05-2012 05:16 PM

No links available...

dillerkind 08-06-2012 09:22 PM

Yep, unfortunately that's been the case for quite some time. But hopefully, one fine day somebody will find the time to update those dead links. Let's keep our fingers crossed :D

vamore_gmail 07-07-2012 09:04 AM

ISO getter-er

Heyo guys this is my first post on the forum so I'm gunna try to be helpful as after like 4 hours I got this thing to work.
so I noiced these links are pretty dead and after some messing around I found that a Korean gamer has split the iso into bits on this stite http://kalian.tistory.com/2 you'll need some weirdly specific ALZ compression extractor once you've download every little bit to stick em back other.

Phew, once you do all that junk and you've mouted the ISO in deamon tools make sure you use this command line (I'll use X as a generic filler for what ever drive ) in dos box

mount X -t cdrom X:\ -iosctrl

and that'll make sure you don't get the copy protect message and you'll bealbe to play with music :3

HannesFun 03-08-2012 07:37 PM

Ahh, nice find! Downloading worked without a problem. Now I just need to find some time to try it out. Woohoohoo, can't wait!

Thanks a bunch for posting this!

I've tried using that -iosctrl command mentioned earlier in this thread but it doesn't seem to do anything. I'd hate to play this without music, can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Smiling Spectre 24-10-2016 10:35 AM

Let me repeat it for you.

1. You must mount image in Daemon tools (and keep it mounted during play).
2. You must mount now "double-virtual" CD - DT CD as DOSBox CD with mount X -t cdrom X:\ -iosctrl command (where X is generic CD letter - you need actual DT-mounted one).
3. Install the game from this CD.
4. Play. In the same session, with CD mounted.
4.1. In an other session you need to mount CD again, at the same letter as you did in p.2. :)

Wasn't it work for you?
