Glest

I'm not sure if you're aware of these titles but there are remakes of Privateer and Star Control 2 released as freeware and Fish Fillets is now released as freeware. I've also found a RTS named Glest which is also freeware.

I haven't tried Glest or the remake of Privateer. But the other two are great games and I doubt that the remake of Privateer can be bad :max:

Thank you bro, just added two more games in my collection.

I can't speak to Privateer, but I know for a fact that the Star Control 2 remake has not been made or released, yet. All they've done on that website you link to is release packages of the music from the game.

The alpha 0.3 of the SC2 remake (Ur-Guan Masters) is available on the site MdaG mentioned. It's based on the 3DO version of the game.

"Alpha version 0.3 is our current public release. The only missing game features at present are intro/end cinematics and slide shows (with the exception of outtakes which are already implemented in 0.3), setup menu, and PC-style namable savegames. Beyond this, our primary task is to refactor the code to the point that we can be sure that it is both correct and elegant enough to be extended by others."

The remake of privateer is looking pretty good - up to version 1.0 to - now they can move it forward to add new features based upon the open source move

But I haven't added anything to anything other than the "high quality freeware..."-thread at "Favorite oldies and newbies" Except for these for at the top... And that was before I started the "bigger" thread.

*edit*

As a matter of fact this thread can be locked now. It hasn't served any purpose since 13th mars.
