DOSBOx doesn't seem to work? :crazy:

I think you can simply start it under Windows... As far as I know Monkey Island 3 needs DirectX 5 (so DOSBox doesnt work....).

I LOVE this game. The wit and humour of this game surpasses any other game that I've played. This is another game I keep on my harddrive.

teltale games is makeing new games based off of the monkey island games, and they re-released the old games with updated graphics. they also made some sam and max games.

it's still not the same as the originals though

Correction: They only re-released an updated version of the FIRST game from the series. Please make sure your research is correct. :whistling:

They are kinda right, in that there are the "Tales of Monkey Island" and "Sam n Max" series that have been released - but there is only the "Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition", which has the old game, but with an updated skin or something.

From what I've played, it's exactly the same bar the graphics and SCUMM update.

The MI & Sam n Max series are okay, I guess - I tried to get SnM series for Wii, but it's been stuck at 98% for about 2 months now...
I don't think I'll be playing it anytime soon.

Wasn't the prize for the Monkey Island competition a series of "Tales of Monkey Island"?

And for everyone who has a problem to start it: Use ScummVM !

if u wanna play this game on modern systems, I think scummVM is the safest bet. Otherwise, VPC I guess...

I just played it on ScummVM and it seemed to work perfectly. VPC was too slow at first, but even after I fixed that, the game kept freezing during the opening movie, so I gave up.

What kind of computer are you using, I had the same issue using ScummVM on my laptop but on my home PC it works fine.

My personal opinion is that when Monkey Island series went 3D, the series was over for me. I really enjoy and enjoyed the first two Monkey Island games and I have them in my collection. 3D belongs for the fps games, not for the adventure games.
