The game was great for it's epoch, however cannot match today's games (but all action games are like that.....they loose value too fast). I used to play it when i was a kid, it's a good game to spend a few hours before getting bored of the repetivity and it has the unique feature (for the time) to buy stuff and upgrade ur spaceship. Overall it's a nice game to have as a classic.
If i was about to rate it in 89 when it was released i would give it a 4.2 for good graphics and smoothness and those extra features that other games lacked not five though because it is not a unique idea....by my opinion it's an enhanced space invaders version. Today though if i would compare the overall value against other old games, especially adventure one's it cannot stand chance. However if i compare it with same genre kind of games it would still score high ;)
If you like flight fighting games go for Red Baron, which is also around the same age ;)
Xenon 2 is a great game for kids mostly.

Red baron fits more into a simulation genre. This is just plain shooting fun. which is great when you are not in the mood to play something more ..intellectual :)

Old flying space shooting arcade games were the best. =) Lots of great wasted time on those.

Does anyone know how to save in this game?

Great game! Just wanted to comment on the music. It was done by Bomb the Bbehind (Tim Simenon) who was know to the Amiga community for his early triphop tune, "Beat Diz". The gamemusic, Megablast, was first released on BTB's LP "Into the dragon". Bitmap Brothers heard it and asked him to do a remix for the game. The original song has rap lyrics that were cut out for the game remix. I'm sure the game music had alot to do with the success of the game, and that BTB's success had alot to do with the game being a smash hit! :)

Love the shop owner by the way...

Bomb the Bbehind read "Bomb the Bbehind" in my post when I added it. Something happened on the way to the forum. Scary hackers and ADB.

Why does the word "B A S S" turn into BBehind?

Tom Henrik 23-11-2004 11:54 AM

It doesn't anymore.
