Can any one tell me what "Pieces of eight are?" What purpose do they serve:confused:.....SAL

Dunno what purpose they serve on this board exactly , but if I remember correctly "pieces of eight" are a currency from the Monkey Island adventure games... so I guess you can take it to be some kind of wink, wink, nudge, nudge "currency" or "reward". ;)

I know guessing the screenshot of today will earn you some, and I guess it's sort of a "prize", guess correctly and you will be rich and everybody will be in awe of your unparallelled knowledge of old games :)

And when you get enough pieces o' eight, you can buy out the whole Abandonia and turn it into a website with advice for pregnant bears.

From what I know, there was some intention that pieces of eight would be a way of getting into the VIP section. ^_^
And that they would also be given for uploading/reviewing games, submitting extras and translating the reviews.

What happaned to the Legends scans that I gave in ages ago? :confused:

Hello again and thank you for your input....Yes I understood the refernce to Pirates Treasure, now I am wondering how this wealth thing ties in with VIP,s Are we to assume that the more wealth one has the more important they are? How is it possible to acquire this wealth? :rolleyes:Does it depend on the amount of knowledge or "smarts: one has of screenshots or is there more:p...SAL

We'll see how it is implemented in the end. Most likely the quiz will only be a secondary way of getting the pieces, and the main will be submitting content.

Don't be in a hurry, I also have a contribution whose processing got lost, and other ones that don't get recognized in my profile. I bet we'll have to wait first until the new site settles down. :P

By the way I hope that the pieces of eight you can get guessing screenshots are nothing in comparison to the ones you get contributing, if it's going to have something to do with status. Because screenshot guessing is too easy, I didn't know most of the games but I stilll guessed the name of almost every one searching for a minute in the site itsef... Everyone will be having hundreds in no time, harr! :D
