Ahhh, nice find. Spent a lot of time on this one back in the day. :)

Aahh, that's one of my favourite games :-)

First, just a little correction of the review, which tells us about 'VGA sprites', well sprites are just sprites, but if you insist on the wording than it should be 'EGA sprites' (and you can run the CGA version as well using an option, afair).

A FEW TIPS: 1. One of the best weapons are the _cheapest_ caltrops, buy maximum of them, then
place them all over the road (use the rear mirror to place them right in front of the opponent's car and
see how he stays behind, i use the term 'feeding' :-)
2. An easy one, but to spare the time for a novice Deathtracker: to dodge missiles, you've got to
hit your brakes quickly as the missile approaches close and it will hit the ground in front of your car.

3. *POSSIBLY A SPOILER DOWN HERE*:
there's an easy way to win almost any race, if you set the number of laps high. then all you've got
to do is go to the pitstop at the beginning, then wait till the opponents shoot one another, then you
come out and kill those that are left (I use caltrops for those who are still fast and shoot the slow ones
with a machine gun). But that's not as exciting as winning a standard race.

Some tips from my side:

Lasers and Beams are some of the best weapons. Lasers are quick-firing and the third type is deadly in a few shots to most other cars. They don't have an ammo gauge, however, which can be annoying when you suddenly run out of juice. Beams don't fire as fast, but do not use any ammo which is a big plus.

The best engine isn't neccesarily a wise buy right on start, and if you pick Hellcat to begin with you'll have the medium engine onboard. That's enough to place in the top three on first and second races.

Also, this same engine when used at top speed can cause your car to fall out of the track on sharp turns and loops, even if all the other components are also maxed out. It's insane at straight portions of the track, though.

Upgrade your car first, then your weapons.

Missiles are a gamble, but if one hits it's usually a kill.

3 laps seems to be the best for speed-winners. Those who prefer blasting their opponents to bits will find 4-5 laps better.

Dunno. That didn't look like EGA to me when I was writing my review.

Oh yeah, this is one of my all time favourites !
If you're the man you win just by using spikes on your wheels :)

This game freaking rules.

I always go the pitbull, the other two are just the suck at the beginning.

And yea, the secret lies with the particle beam cannon. Upgrade that ASAP. The top machine gun is fun too, and don't bother with anything below dragon terminators.

And putting the biggest ram spikes on is fun too. It's a riot just slamming into the slow bastards off the start and blowing them up before you're allowed to shoot. Once you max your car out, you should be able to take everyone else out within the first lap.

Nope, the Hellcat has level 2 engine and Crusher packs quite an arsenal of weaponry.

IMO, it's the Pitbull that's kind of handicapped, as tough armor is its only real advantage.

Hellcat can simply race out the other contestants on the first few tracks, without shooting almost anything, and as it starts with upgraded engine you can pack in a bunch of top-line extra parts and some weapons to boot. Hellish kitty!
