Abandonia breached, again: change passwords
 

According to https://www.avast.com/hackcheck (you can enter there your email address to check) encrypted passwords were stolen from Abandonia in 2018. A user alerted us about this. It would be a different instance from the one in 2016 we had already informed about.

To change your password, go to the website (not forum) tab "my account" then click on "edit".

Not if no one has hijacked your prized Abandonia account yet :p

If no one have my account (no one, I checked the linked site), then it's nothing. And if anyone _had_, I doubt he would wait for three years. :) But yes, if my mail was in base, I would be troubled indeed.

Thanks for sharing this. It was a good reminder to do a checkup on some accounts.

So I changed my password through the forum interface. After that I could no longer login on the main site, neither with the new password or the old one.

I tried the reset password form a few times but never received the email it's supposed to send.

I can login on the forum with the new password though...

How many breaches have their been?
 

I completely forgot I made an account here and dont even remember why I did. According to Have I Been Pwned:
In November 2015, the gaming website dedicated to classic DOS games Abandonia suffered a data breach resulting in the exposure of 776k unique user records

Avast sent me an email saying:
Leaked 20 Jan, 2018
Leaked 23 Oct, 2016


So...how many breaches have their been? Is it 2 or is it 3?

Sorry about that. Unfortunately I can't do anything to fix how the website works or doesn't... :(

I think one's supposed to change the password from the website, go to "my account" then "edit". For me it worked, which surprised me actually... The website takes care of the forum account, but it's just hacked in this way, rather than properly integrated or left separate.
