You type in the name of a song or artist and it starts playing songs similar to hatever you put in. I doesn't just play music of the same genre of the one you put in but recognises common themes such as "heavy metal roots", "strong vocals" or "electric guitar rifts". You can rate songs on whether you like it or not, so it gets a better idea for your taste in music and adjusts to play songs that it thinks you'll like more.

You can make up to 100 stations, all of which are separate from each other. After a while (about 10 songs, I think) you have to register. It's free (though there will be an option to pay, which doesn't give any perks yet), it asks for a zip code. If you don';t live in the US, don't worry as it'll accept a random 5-digit number (worked for me anyway).

After listening awhile I signed up, this is a great service, thanks for pointing it out Havell.

Dont you have to pay to broadcast songs legally?

Sean 19-11-2005 04:39 PM

Great service.. if it is in fact entirely legal I might subscribe.

Havell 19-11-2005 04:51 PM

It's not legal for you two and me, but it is for Blood-Pigggy. It's authorised to broadcast music for free within the US. Provided a few things, such as that they are not allowed to play specific songs on request. It's about as illegal as this site (ie, illegal, but morally not).

No.

This is pure quality. Nice one.

Just the thing I've been looking for. :Brain:

Oh my god, this is great! Too bad I listen much to Finnish music, which they don't have in their playlists. If they'd have Finnish rock from the late 70's and 80's, the site would be more than perfect for me.

Although this way it's excellent, too.
