Seems crap

Huh. Just spoke about this with Tomekk the other day. Still, I feel about this just like I do with other Kickstarters.

Great! Another MMO! We have not enough of that!..

...Wait, what?! :(

Ooh, very cool! I loved the early Ultima games and how they brought sci-fi into a fantasy realm.

Well, I'm kind of torn here. One because Ultima Online was one of the (if not the) best MMO even before the MMO term got coined... Two because, like Smiling Spectre said... We don't need another MMO...

I'd be the first to (re)install UO if it ever became free to play though. :p

Apparently it'll sort-of be single player? (or at least that was the impression I got).

It certainly doesn't seem like a traditional MMO: "Shroud of the Avatar is a game that first and foremost can be played both offline and online, so it’s a very high-quality story-driven single-player game. That being said, if you are online, it will also search for people you know, by whatever means it can, whether you give us access to your contacts list or your social media connections. We’ll search for people you know and automatically bring them into the purview of your game."

Also, I'd also second that if UO became free-to-play I'd suggest making an Abandonia guild! It was the only MMO I ever played.

It looks like "online game with independent client" for me.

Once a house is purchased, players will need to pay regular taxes on it of course.

An incentive-driven system will draw players into the challenge and intrigue of the PVP experience, whether they become the hunter or the hunted!
It sounds not very "offline", eh?
