Escape From Dinosaur Island

I remember having a demo \ shareware adventure games many years ago. I would love to play it again, but I can't remember what it was called.

Details are a bit sketchy, but does it ring any bells for anyone?
  • It was adventure game, in first person view.
  • Must have been Windows 95, cos that was my first computer.
  • It was mouse controlled.
  • It was based in a research station (I think). And you had to find out what happened to everyone in the building, cos they are all missing.
  • It was still pictures, which took up most of the screen. And I think directions (that you clicked on) and inventory were shown at the side.
  • First screen, as you approached the building, showed a tall wire fence, with a gap to enter, then the building behind it.
  • There was a tall dinosaur in one screen. If you weren't prepared to deal with it, then it killed you. And no, it's not Jurassic Park.
  • There was a forcefield at one point. If you didn't turn it off from inside the building, the forcefield would electricute you.
  • There is an abandoned car.
That's all I remember at the moment. Any help is appreciated. :)

Anyone? :mhh:

To be honest, I think I've played the game you're looking for, but I can't remember the name ..... *sigh*.
It's kinda bothering me since you posted your request.
Ah well, as usual it will pop up in my mind sooner or later. ( read: most probably in a year or two .....)

Must also say I have some doubts about that 'Windows95' , I think it was a Dos based game.

Maybe it was a dos game, that also worked on Win 95? :dunno:
If you remember ANYTHING about the name, please let me know. :)

What style were the graphics? Digitized photos, cartoon/anime style drawings, non-cartoonish pixelled, pre-rendered 3D...?
Also, what year was that (even approximately)?

Graphics were non-cartoonish pixelled. There was no photos or anime, and definately no 3D.

I played it on my first computer, so it must have been 1995. But the game might have been released before then, so I'll say early - mid 1990s. :mhh:

I would call it a Point & Click adventure, or a Graphic adventure.

When you clicked on something, description appeared at bottom of screen.

The gameplay you described sounds like one of the games made by Legend. Check games on this list: http://www.mobygames.com/browse/game...nment-company/

Frodo 17-01-2010 11:53 AM

No, it's not any of those games. :( But thanks for trying.

But the pictures are very similar in style to Time Quest. So it must have been made around 1991 (so I was a few years off, before, sorry).

Here's a mock-up of how I remember it. Directions available to you were lit up, and you clicked on them to go in that direction. :)

I FOUND IT!

I got some shareware disks from eBay, and one of the disks had this game on it.
It's called 'Escape From Dinosaur Island', by Sea Side Studios. :max:

Can't find anything about it online, though. :dunno:
