Amazing. Another underdog game that I thought I was the only one who played it. Good upload, Omuletzu & Data. I remember buying this game long ago after playing Heroes of Might & Magic 1 and I heard the same guys had made this game beforehand.

While not as polished as the later HOMM game, I did like the setting better. How can you not like a game with a 'Led Zeppelin' title and Vikings in it. =) The world needs more VIking games and movies. Speaking of under-rated movies, the 13th Warrior is a great Viking movie too, loosely adapted from Michael Crichton's book based on a real manuscript written in 922 A.D by a scholar who left Baghdad and met and journeyed with Vikings.

Quick question... are loading times as long for you guys too? Here, when my turn's ended, calculating the other players' moves takes 'bout 8 minutes. An average turn plays for 3 minutes. Bloody annoying to have to wait all the time. I don't seem to remember it doing that back when I played this as a kid, though.

Nice game, but be more careful with history when writing rewievs:

...is set during the era of the great Viking explorations and before the rise of the Roman Empire....

Roman Empire is not the Holy Roman Empire... :w00t:

I don't really understand what you are trying to say, but i remember double checking this phrase(the exact phrase exists in the intro movie) when i wrote the review, because it sounded fishy

vikings as we understand it (although the word just means 'pirate' and isn't something they ever called themselves) were around much later than the Roman empire, although there were people in Scandinavia then, obviously. Their explorations were a few centuries ad as far as i know - for instance, Leif Eriksson is credited with discovering Greenland (and possibly mainland America) 900 or so years before Columbus, about 600 AD methinks. the Holy Roman Empire was in what is now mainly Germany, around 900 AD, but existed for quite a while, and was a major power in medieval europe.

of course, i may be slightly out there - most of this was gleaned from playing Civilisation and living with history students!

Beefonthebone's correct. The Vikings wer driving down to (fatally, as it turns out) establish a feudal system in Kievan-Rus around the 12th and 13th centuries ACE. A number of the more famous Vikings rented their services as missionaries to the Holy Roman Empire in Byzantium around the same time, where they were often employed as bodyguards. Viking exploration started around 900-1000 ACE, again long after the Roman Empire had collapsed.

Right....well....I liked HOMM a lot. And I like vikings too!! LOL So I think I was the first to download this game.. :D

In the technical notes you said that the executable to use is "hammer.bat". Well....it doesn't work!!! It still asks for the cd. WHY?? :Titan:

I tried running it in windows and dosbox, but neither of them work.
