been uploaded!

This is a text game and has no graphics...intereactive fiction where you type in commands to move the story forward. The graphics are from the manual which couldn't be uploaded for reasons I won't go into at the moment.

Sorry you're disappointed. There's always tomorrow's :)

Never judge a book by its cover, never judge a game by its graphics.

If a game looks good, that still doesn't mean it's a good one. I've seen many good and fancy looking games, that weren't worth playing.
On the other side there are some excelent games, that simply haven't any graphic. Back in the old days you had to decide either make the game look good (which would be way out of date by now) or make the game feel good (gamplay and enjoymant of the game stay forever).
the game is simply perfect - but if you don't like the text based games, you better not even bother.

Thanks for putting this up, Wendy. I'm always happy to see another good Text Adventure game. Anything to help more people get into Interactive Fiction is a good thing, plus this Infocom game was one of my favorites with its modern-day setting and horror.

By the way, there was a new version of Win Frotz 2002 that was just released last week on Feb 8. Its version 1.06. Like always, this will let you play infocom/inform/z-code games. Not sure if the version on this site is the most current.

Release notes posted to rec.games.int-fiction

Aw, gee, guys, thanks. :D

You don't often get appreciation for updating games, so it's really nice when it happens. Glad you both like the game.

Wheee!!! Awesome. This is much better than 7th guest, which I couldn't stand. Much scarier too.

When I saw this I nearly fainted. Even though that is pretty sad I remember that I would nearly wet myself when playing this, even though it was text based, it's one of my all time best games ever.

Thanks for uploading it :D .

 LOL yes, there was a time when games had no graphics.

I love text adventures and IF in general but this isn't such a great game. The plot, location and characters all seem a bit weak and it can't hold a candle (or lantern) to some of Infocoms other titles. Still nice to see it though and it's been so long since I played it that I'm going to give it another try and do my level best to finish it this time.

I remember playing this when it first came out. I liked it then, and it's still great after all these years. I think they did a good job of creating a scary atmosphere, considering it's all text.

Did anyone get the joke about George Underwood Edwards? GUE also stands for
Great Underground Empire -- aka Zork!
