Yes, where else do you expect the installation data to come from?

Guest 05-12-2010 09:04 AM

Oh right. So I need to locate a Windows 98se disk before I can go any further?

So the article is only about getting the disk to boot? It doesn't run off the image?

If you have a Win98SE CD image you can mount that.
Use the CD icon in the lower menu bar to mount the CD image.

The Fifth Horseman 05-12-2010 09:55 AM

Correct. Any Windows 98 version will do.
No, it's about the entire installation procedure. But, like said before, you need the CD (or its' image) to install the system from.
The only thing that runs off the floppy image you have is a rudimentary command line interface with HDD and CD support. It's a stopgap measure used for machines which could not boot directly from a CD.

I've done it! Well i've managed to get windows 98 to start on my VPC, and it works etc.

However, now how do I get my GPM2 files onto that computer? You mentioned a shared file. How do I do this?

Thanks, and thanks so much for your help so far. Its been great.

Already told you that, memory problem....?

Specific fo GPM2:
I used a 'shared' VPC folder as you can see in the screenshots, the game from AB ran directly from there, no need to install.

Notice: to be able to use a shared host/guest folder the VM Additions must be installed in the guest OS. (Menu 'action' 'install VM additions', guest reboot needed)
Or you put AB's GPM2 game on a CD(RW) and mount that CD in VPC, as you wish. But then you'll need to copy the whole game from CD on the guest's C: to be able to save.(CD icon menu bar)

Always share a folder, never a complete drive, create a specific 'shared' folder for VPC, better safe than sorry.

And once you get everything working swell it's time to backup (zip) your VHD file, should you completely screw up something in W98VPC it's only a matter of two minutes to put a working VHD back. Just saying.

Apologies I missed that. I've sorted the whole shared folder thing.

Now on trying to install the game i'm getting the same error that a lot of people were previously getting.

The missing wing32.dll file.

I know it is in the system file, and it is on my host OS. However when using my VPC, those files aren't visible or aren't shared?

How do I get round this issue?

Thanks.

Help

Hi Guys I was wondering if anyone can help? Im playing this game and i'm doing reasonably well. I start my 3rd season with Mclaren. Despite both cars qualifying well. top 6 almost every race, sometimes pole they both crash out due to a variety of errors. Part failures, collisions, spun off etc. Is this a bug or something that anyone knows anything about?
