Operation Body Count
|
oh well
at least there is more than 1 FPS on the site now. :D |
now I'll see which I prefer! Wolf3d or body count..
|
sorry for the off topic but am I the only one that thinks about "Cop Killer" when you see this title?
|
Copkiller?
|
i think the same thing too, braindead.
the body count version is better then the ice-t rap version, imho. the song cop killer had a lot of controversy in the states. here are the lyrics as best as i remember them. ther are a lot of f-bombs, Quote:

I remember when this game came out. It was inferior to doom in graphics and gameplay but it was the first game I remember where you could shoot glass and make it break and leave bullet holes in walls. It was important in that respect.
|
Well, at least I used to like it :) I just loved shooting at the windows when I played this game, and allthough there's not much to do but that, it still worked as a decent time killer to me somehow. I just like shooting annoying people who make irritating noises I guess :P
|
hmmm.... this game reminds me too much of doom/wolfenstiein and i dont like the whole killin cops thing its just..... wrong!
|
I like how the wall just disappears when you shoot them with the g-launcher
too bad that they're only blocks though |
Greetings.
Very good review of this game, I m just downloading it to try it :o) By the way: You talk about Witchcraft, but I think you mean Witchaven. Dont kill me if I m just wrong ;o) A Review+DL about the Witchaven series would be very nice btw.. see you |

:ot: Wasn't that Rodney thingy like a decade ago? |
This has to be one of the worst games ever made .. IMHO :P
|
YOU LOOOOSEE!
Cor, I remember THAT one, still scare the heck out of my great aunt with it, HAHA! I also recall this as the first FPS I played where some of the guys play dead, soon after was Rise of the Triad, which was a much better game, but oi, what a trip! |
there's a big mistake in the review. the "build engine" wich was used in duke3d was NOT made by id software. apogee's engine developer was inspired by wolfenstein and made his own little labirinth game with an own engine. that's the reason apogee hired him, but there's not ID source inside.

Am I the only one who can't run this game?
It seems that every game but one I've downloaded from this site does not work. I have used DosBox before for a long time, but my comp crashed and I got a new one. I'm not doing anything differently from now and then, and they all worked then. When I run this game it always says "BC exited on its own. Reported in BC.log" or something along those lines. Also, for the game EPIC I get a bunch of words in like Russian or something, no game. But I really wanna play Operation Body Count and I've set it all up, all necessary files from this site are there and nothing works. |
Perhaps the version of DOSBox you're using now is different from the one you used back then?
Or it might be an issue with Windows Vista. Anyway. Try with the latest DOSBox version. If that doesn't work, try with older ones. 0.70, 0.65, 0.63, 0.61 |
What does the file 'BC.log' say? I have this, so I can help. :)

The BC.log: Code:
BC ERROR: 414 |
Can you show me a screenshot of your Body Count directory? Also, make sure ems and xms are both set to true in dosbox.conf.
|
|
try inputing "core full" and "cycles max" and see how that goes

hmm, what is exactly the command of your mount command and where this game is located?
|
Code:
Z:\ mount c c:\games Code:
C:\Games\OBC\Count.exe |
You must have done it differently back then.
Either Z:\>mount c C:\Games\OBC\ Z:\>c: C:\>count or Z:\>mount c C:\Games Z:\>c: C:\>cd obc C:\OBC>count |
noooo inkubus, you're doing it wrong, you need to run it via bc.bat and you need to run it from it's directory (it matters)
so you first have to 'cd c:\obc' directory and then type 'bc.bat', because otherwise it won't find any other excutables |

Well, I mean DOS isn't really the future, but you get the idea.. |
