Any news on if they will eventually soften up their policy regarding the really old ones?

Star Wars - X-Wing [LucasArts]

Hi to all Im new here! :)
I searched the game X-Wing with google and I founded a page of this site describing it. Unfortunately this game is protected with the ESA and I can't download it. How can I get it? In Spain there isn't availabe, as well as the X-Wing VS Tie-Fighter. :hairpull:

Amazon.com would be a place to start. Either that or Ebay.

Thanks, I founded 1 game in eBay, but the question is if will work on my Windows 98 SE in spanish...

Mighty Midget 29-07-2006 07:10 PM

I don't think that matters. As long as it is Win98. SE or not, you should be able to play it in dos. Just make a boot disc. One way of doing this, if you're not dl-ing Abandonia's one, is to create a rescue disc in windows, adding sound and mousedrivers, and that's pretty much it. :)

I played X-Wing in Win98SE in Spanish not long ago. The language's got nothing to do, it will pose no problem, although of course the game's language is independent from the OS one. If the game's the DOS version, most likely you will be able to run it directly under Win98, whereas you'd probably need DOSBox if you had WinXP. So no problem at all, on the contrary. That's only my guess, but it was what happened with the version I have.

EDIT: MM's comment wasn't there before... ^_^ As I've said, try to run it directly from Win98 before resorting to more complicated solutions, I'd bet it will work.

Japofran: I had problems with memory when running it under win98se. I found a way, but it didn't always work for some reason. Forgot what it was. DOH!
