Liberated games
I'm not aiming to create huge, comprehensive lists like those that can be found at Wikipedia, Liberated Games or Remain in Play, rather, just to document the various (and sometimes rather obscure) free and/or liberated game findings that could be of certain interest :)

Iron Seed
This rather unusual sci-fi strategy game that had originally been released as shareware can be found at the official website of the original developers, who are now working on a remake:

Theseus - Return of the Hero
A follow-up of Alien Shooter with a different protagonist, and running on the same engine. The game was released for free by Sigma Team at some point, and is available from their website:

Legend of the Silver Talisman
Originally a shareware game inspired by Gauntlet, the full version of the Legend of the Silver Talisman was eventually released as freeware by the developers.

Edvard Toth, author of the Amiga role-playing game Perihelion, has been very kind to distribute the full version at his website. With the original publisher no longer existing, this is the closest thing to an official liberated release of the game.

The download comes with a preconfigured Windows emulator.

Tiger's Bane by Longbow Digital Arts.
Tiger's Bane is a hybrid of the shoot-em-up and simulation genres, combining side scrolling action with realistic elements such as limited ammunition, accurate modelling of weapons and their effects, flight dynamics that take inertia and wind into consideration, and a wide array of real battlefield machinery to fly, destroy, and protect.

Somehow it doesn't seem to be widely known that the registered version of LineWars II is available as a free download from the website of its creator, Patrick Aalto:

Helherron, a classic style shareware RPG by Antti Kuukka, had been released as freeware in March 2006. The official website is down, but there's a functional archived copy where the latest, free version of the game (v2.04) is available:
