Please, everybody. Be nice to newbies! Even the veterans once started as newbs.

If you feel like it, you can look up the first post of some veterans, if you're in for a good laugh. That's right! We all once followed the way of the noob... |
At one point yes, but, abandonia may not necessarily have been our first forum. I used to mod some pretty large boards.
|
Of course, that's true. But it's interesting to see how everyone started the same way 'waw Abandonia is great! Thanks for the games <optional:> I have some to share with you! etc.' and how they grow out to become respected members. I think I didn't make my point of this topic entirely clear.

We're not nice to newbies?

Hah, it's just a global advice. I'm using the common prejudices concerning newbies.

Ve orkz alvayz respekt ze nobs. ve r not huminz viz zeir stupid demon-cazi!
couldn't resist. |
Newbies? Oooh, you mean those little hobbity thinga that spring up like weeds, and very rarely stay for more than a month?
They taste nice. |
One thing that I noticed is, that there are either to few forum admins/mods or the existing ones are too busy or too reserved.
That does tempt other non-admin (primarily veteran) members to comment on each and every violation of the boardrules. So literally they take "the law" into their own hands. While browsing the forums, I have seen many comments like "Stop spamming", "Necro alert?" etc. I mean, it doesn't help anybody, if a single spam post is followed up by three or more answers stoning the orginal author or quoting the rules. Why not delete the post without much fuss. Use the warning level feature more frequent instead. Just my thoughts as a new Abandonia member. |
Well,I think that werespect all newbies that respect us...
