Ideas needed: our tagline

Every magazine has a kind of tagline. The site has "dedicated to classic dosgames" for example. I reserved a black box at the bottom of the front cover for a tag line but I can't seem to think of a decent one so does anyone have any idea?

Simoneer 22-04-2009 05:58 PM

''Does not include blast-processing''? :perv:
''...It's stompin' time!''? :perv:

On a more serious note...

''By retro gamers, for retro gamers.''
''By veterans, for veterans.''
''...Taking you back to the past since 2009.''
''...For the future, was yesterday.'' (Referring to how the quality of games haven't really gotten better with the years...)
''A look back into the past.''
''Dedicated to... old news.''
''The gaming magazine dedicated to the golden years!''
''Your guide to the golden days of gaming.''
''More gold. Less scrap.''

Yeah, they're all cheesy. Made them up quickly, after all. Not that I would be able to come up with much better things, even with hours of thought. :hihihi: I love making up things like this, though. Could probably come up with a few hundred more if I wasn't lazy.

Free pron inside.

That cracked me up. My maturity level is so low right now. (No offense intended.)

Geezer 22-04-2009 07:27 PM

"Abandoned but not forgotten."

Simoneer 22-04-2009 07:36 PM

While I admit that was a really good one, Geezer, it would be a bit too repetitive, in my opinion.

I mean...

Abandoned Times

-Abandoned but not forgotten.

...Yeah. But that's just my opinion. :)

The Fifth Horseman 23-04-2009 10:40 AM

"Oldschool never changes"
"We like our games older than hell"
"Who gives a **** about modern gaming?"
"Computer gaming didn't start with Quake"

GTX2GvO 23-04-2009 10:48 AM

I think the following suggestions are actually rather good:

''By retro gamers, for retro gamers.''
"Abandoned but not forgotten."

Doesn't that sound a bit... obvious? :p

Have anyone even claimed that? Some seem to think it started the FPS genre, but computer gaming overall? Neeaaaahh. I have NEVER heard that.

And no, I'm not responding to you with some sort of negativity because I have something against you after the Diablo discussing, in case you get that impression (...I feel like it might seem like that). I actually think you're pretty cool.

Acethor 23-04-2009 01:15 PM

I vote for Fifth's:

"Oldschool never changes"

Also other good ones:

"Abandoned but not forgotten"

Simoneer 23-04-2009 01:20 PM

I still think that's too obvious. It's like saying ''Things from 20 years ago remains 20 years old.'' Gives one the thought ''no shit'' in mind, does it not? :p

Acethor 23-04-2009 01:28 PM

Well maybe it gives you "no shit" in your mind :p, but for me it makes me think "Wow these games are so crappy crap and are old as hell and everyone is into COD4 and Bioshock and yet here is a bunch of people who are actually still dedicated to these old crappy crap games."

It's a pun on "War never changes", probably the most recognizable quote from the Fallout series.

The Bard 23-04-2009 01:36 PM

Oldschool never changes sounds great.

Oh. I actually didn't know that.

It's good, then.

Worshipping the True Pixel

Simoneer 23-04-2009 05:52 PM

Oh no! Zero Wing!

...I actually like that game. And I adore how you have 2 pod-like things that you can fire with, one below and one above the your ship. Makes things easier.

red_avatar 23-04-2009 09:56 PM

"Abandoned but not forgotten" gets my vote. It's catchy, it fits, and it's simple.

TotalAnarchy 09-05-2009 05:42 AM

I know you already decided on this, but it never hurts:

"Never forget, never abandon"

How about:
"Never forgotten, never abandoned"?

red_avatar 09-05-2009 10:38 AM

It's called "abandoned times" :p That's like saying "Old Folks Home - a home for people who aren't old but young of spirit". So yes, they're abandoned (by their developers/publishers) but they're *not* forgotten by the gamers. That's why I went with "abandoned but not forgotten".

Abandoned Witch 11-04-2011 05:14 AM

"Abandonware from A-Z"
Is this appropriate for AT?

Dave 11-04-2011 07:44 AM

The quest for the tagline ended in 2009 and the first Issue was released in May, anyway thank you for your suggestion. :)

ltsajber 12-04-2011 06:45 PM

I like "Abandoned but not forgotten." Ill vote on that. :)
