The ESA states that 42% of online gamers are Female

How come that i hardly see any? I mean i've played ragnarok for 2 years and seeing a female player was rare. Very rare to be exact.

If you would like to plow through the other announcements of the ESA go Here and click the Essential Facts About the Computer and Video Game Industry link. (pdf, 64.44 kb)

Some are actually quite funny while others scare me to death (see rpg sales inside pdf file)

Yeah I bet they're crowded in a few games they're enthusiastic at. That's how statistics work, if I get one and you get none, we got half each on average. :D

I'm not surprised at all.

Actually, all the recent fuss about "capturing the female market" really annoys me - We girls have been here the whole time, and we don't need pink, barbie themed "games" that are different to the "boys games" and won't offend our delicate female sensibilities.

Now, let's go play Counter Strike so I can kick your behind :D

Under Sales and Genre Data, it's got a section on what online games are played most often. On of the categories is "Other". Could you tell what would this represent?

are you guys suggesting that girls can't be anti-social too? :P

I suppose female players don't get online or play online as much, and aren't that loud about their gender. That you don't see them in online communities doesn't mean they don't exist :P

I have seen enough female players in a number of games where one would "stereotypically" not expect them, including Diablo II, GunZ: the Duel and StarCraft. Though not as numerous as male players, there's still a lot of them playing not exactly with "dollies" and leaving enough men defeated and ashamed :whistling:

there are also mmorpgs where graphis are "aww cute" and stuff, so more girls play it. like www.furcadia.com (place to cyber?) or www.mapleglobal.com
