Myst was a very original game... not to mention VERY complicated I own that game and It took me MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY days to finnaly beat it. Lots of people who played it didnt like it and some grew mad at it due to its tendency to make you extreamly frusterated. Anyone I for one played it and loved it and i just wanted to hear some other ppls opinions :max:

I bought the deluxe version for $10.
Its a bit unstable and I find it too difficult. But then again,I'm a strategy game kind of person. I thought it was like,Real time not with static images. That sort of put me off it after I found out It wasnt. |
I recently bought a copy through Ebay and also a copy of Riven and Exile. Haven't gone far in any as I was disappointed with them. They don't seem to have much charm, heart or warmth. Just a lot of wandering through vast landscapes. No sense of urgency or purpose. The graphics in Exile are amazing, though much prefer the Zork and Kyrandia series.

We bought the game just a few days after it came out. I absolutely loved the atmosphere in that game... I still love the atmosphere in the game :D
Very cool game, and the difficulty is juuuust right for me. It's not really as difficult as many other adventures, and most puzzles are pretty logical :) |
I loved Myst! :w00t: Mind you, it did take AGES to complete. Most of my friends didn't like it because of that static-image thing, but at the time I don't think 3D engines could deliver the quality that the game needed.

I also love the Myst series, especially Riven and Revelation. They both have a space on my top 3 list. :ok:
*edit* Also I'm curious as to why people feel that the Myst games are so hard? I didn't have nearly as much trouble with it as with for example Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle, Discworld, ... Most of the puzzles in the Myst series are all quite logical and solveable if you just pay attention to details... If you want difficult, then try out the DVD version of Schizm... |
Stop faking MDag, you know just as well as I do that Myst's pointless slider/contraption/formula puzzles are as near-impossible as it could be. :bleh:

i hate those games. a mate of mine who was temporarily pc less bought no 3 and installed it on my machine. i only took so many hours of it (and him ranting at me about how it was the best game ever as he played with some wierd array made of giant balls)
before i had to uninstall it and threaten violence if it ever went anywhere near my system again. each to there own tho. |

Next in line are Aura and Voyage. :D *edit* Revelation had a beautiful slider puzzle also known as "the chair puzzle" *spaces off*, it was heartwrenching to finally solve it. |
