Frodo's Treasure

I already mentioned this in another thread, but I might as well mention it here as well. :max:

Stuff I uploaded for Questprobe Spiderman:
Game archive (supplied by Luchsen), review, screenshots, walkthrough. :)

Dave 20-02-2009 08:06 AM

Yes, ready and in queue ;)

Frodo 23-02-2009 08:10 PM

Uploaded game archive (supplied by Luchsen), review, screenshots, and walkthrough for Questprobe Fantastic 4. :3:

That's all the Questprobe games done now. :max:

Dave 23-02-2009 10:10 PM

Thanks Frodo :)
P.s. I see you have just added Drascula at AReloaded and you uploaded the material into FTP.
Is that one ready? I guess the review is the same am I right?
Do you mind if we insert it here?
We haven't added direct links to AR but it's into our list of things to do ;)

Frodo 24-02-2009 07:37 AM

Playing the Questprobe games was a real blast to the past. It was great.

About Drascula: I added cd scans, box scans etc a long time ago, before the game was freeware. :)

Frodo 26-02-2009 02:19 PM

Hmm, I have the Questprobe comics that I would like to upload as extras. But it would be several hundred megabites per comic. Any ideas how to make it smaller? :mhh:

Are they PDF files?

Frodo 26-02-2009 02:34 PM

Not yet. I have to scan each page individually, then make them into pdfs

Frodo 07-03-2009 01:49 AM

It's nice to hear everyone's voices in the game. Thanks for the link Sleeplion. :)

What the size limit on games now? It would be nice if this speech version could replace the floppy version, but it's 113MB zipped. :mhh:

Frodo 07-03-2009 01:49 AM

The Fifth Horseman 07-03-2009 01:49 PM

113 MB is just about in the limit.

Frodo 07-03-2009 05:17 PM

So we can have the cd speech version? Great! It's smaller than System Shock archive, anyway. :bleh2:

I uploaded the Phantom archive to the ftp server. It's already edited, following Sleeplion's instructions. Just use Phantom.bat to start the game.

The Fifth Horseman 07-03-2009 06:44 PM

Posts copied from the Games Discussion thread, so that the Updaters can take care of replacing the current archive.

Note to updaters: It would be preferrable to still keep the floppy version of the game as an extra.

Frodo 10-03-2009 12:29 AM

Made scans for Sink Or Swim cd, manual, and supplement, and uploaded them to the server. :)

Just added, thank you! :)

Paco 11-03-2009 10:26 AM

@Frodo

next time you uploads something on FTP, please remember to create a Folder with the Name of the Game for which the Stuff are.

and then put if possible in a zip-file like Screenshots.zip instead of 15 pics or Game.zip instead of 70 files.

I cleaned your Stuff on FTP abit. Now it look much cleaner. (i thought Women like it clean :whistling:)

you have now:

- Animal - Game (Frodo)
- Dragonsphere - Copy Protection (Frodo)
- Drascula - Game, Boxshots (Frodo)
- Lemmings Chronicles, The - Manual (Frodo)
- Questprobe featuring Human Torch and The Thing - Game, Review, Screenshots, Walkthrough (Frodo)
- Questprobe featuring Spider-Man - Game, Review, Screenshots, Walkthrough (Frodo)
- Return Of The Phantom - Game archive (Frodo)

I have some Question for you:

What is this Animal partfile? And is it this? For the Copy Protection Pdf i have to search for which Game it is (that is why i said to create a Folder with the Name of the Game). There is 2 different Drascula Game archive so you have to tell me which we should take and delete the other. As for the Questprobe you already reported it in this Thread.

thank you. ^^

Edit:

I forgot to tell you that i deleted the Ship-Photo that was in your Folder. no idea what it was for. anyways...

Frodo 11-03-2009 04:40 PM

Sorry Paco, I'll try and remember that for the future. :)

ANIMAL: Yes, that is the correct game. The part file you mention is probably an attempt (and fail) to upload the game to the server. If it's still abandoned, I can try to review it sometime, and re-upload everything. In the meantime, can you delet part file please.

DRAGONSPHERE: Copy protection questions are already on site.

DRASCULA: I uploaded that stuff long before the game became freeware. You can just delete it all if you want.

LEMMINGS CHRONICLES: Manual still needs to be added - game is already on site.

QUESTPROBE FEATURING HUMAN TORCH: Everything (game, review, screenshots, walkthrough) still needs to be added on site.

QUESTPROBE FEATURING SPIDERMAN: Already on site.

RETURN OF THE PHANTOM: Game archive needs to be swapped with floppy version currently on site (with floppy version being added as as extra).

I have no idea what this ship photo is. :omg:

Paco 11-03-2009 05:02 PM

then i will delete it. Animal is too common a name that i cant easy find a buylinks in internet, but i thinks its abandoned. and also delete Dragonsphere Manual all along. i think we can use Drascula for AB. you are right with Spider-Man. will move it.

again thank you for your submissions.

Japo 11-03-2009 10:02 PM

Frodo 22-03-2009 10:59 PM

Uploaded some scans for System Shock. :)
  • Box Cover Front
  • Box Cover Back
  • Cd Disk
  • Manual
But no boats!

Frodo 24-03-2009 09:59 PM

The new issue of Retro Gamer came in the post today. There was a big article about the Making Of Space Invaders, so I scanned it into pdf, and uploaded to the server.

Hope you can use it. :)

Frodo 25-03-2009 09:47 PM

Uploaded all the Level Codes for Flashback - Dos version, not Cd Version.
Easy, Normal, Expert. :)

Frodo 07-04-2009 09:32 PM

Archemedean Dynasty \ Batman Returns \ Time Paradox

I have the archive for 3 games, and I wondered if AB wanted them?

Archemedan Dynasty -
http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/archimedean-dynasty
Batman Returns -
http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/batman-returns
Time Paradox -
http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/time-paradox

I know that Time Paradox is ripped (no speech or movies), but I'm not sure about the other 2 games.

So... do you want? :)

_r.u.s.s. 08-04-2009 08:40 AM

archemedan dynasty would be awesome, what's the size of it?

Paco 08-04-2009 10:28 AM

EDIT
Archemedean Dynasty Archive - 36.4mb zipped
Batman Returns - 8.03mb ziipped
Time Paradox - 6.2mb zipped

So are they suitable for uploading?

I haven't reviewed them though. :max:

Frodo 11-04-2009 01:43 AM

Uploaded the first 2 Questprobe comics - Hulk and Spiderman. They are 35 MB each, but who else can offer these comics? :max:

Also uploaded:
The Hulk game advert
Questprobe Questions\Letters page
Montezuma's Revenge game advert
:OK:

I'll upload the last comic another day. :)

Saccade 12-04-2009 06:32 PM

I am viewer 666, Frodo...

Frodo 14-04-2009 07:50 PM

What happened to the manual for All New World Of Lemmings (A.K.A Lemmigs Chronicles)? I uploaded it way back in February 2008 - over a year ago. :oh:

Frodo 14-04-2009 08:10 PM

That is not it. There is alot of Stuff submitted *check Submissions-Thread for a List*

and its up to Updater to choose what they want to add on Site. Even though they are told to add older Stuff first, then newer Stuff.

so you have to wait until its on Site sometimes...

Frodo 14-04-2009 08:18 PM

Okay, just asking. :)

EDIT

- Lemmings Chronicles, The - Manual (Frodo)

That shows the wrong year. I uploaded it last year (2008), not this year. That's why I didn't see it at first. :max:

Frodo 16-04-2009 10:13 PM

Uploaded Questprobe Featuring Human Torch & The Thing comic.
Also uploaded another Questprobe Questions page. :)

That's all the Questprobe stuff uploaded now, so hopefully it will be put on site soon.

I bet no other site has these comics to offer.

I'd guess they are up pretty soon..

yeah, you are right. I cleaned up the FTP in March and added the stuff to the Submissions-List. So its has nothing to do when you uploaded it. For example Da Bomb uploaded his Games 2 Years ago.

Chris 17-04-2009 03:09 PM

So I made this newspic for the Questprobe Series. Sadly while resizing it, I realised that it had lost lots of details and that you were not able to read the logo any more. Now, before it is lost in the depths of my hard drive, I wanted to show it to you and post it here in all its glory:

Review

If you don't mind I'll add the boxshots and manual.

EDIT: Looks like Paco is doing the boxshots already. Let me know if you want the manual done.

Big Box Shots
Cd Box Shots
Cd Disk
Manual
Copy Protection

It started uploading into my Return Of The Phantom folder, for some reason, so can that be fixed please. :max:

Frodo 28-05-2009 05:00 PM

Going through some of my games, most of them are too big for the site, or not considered abandoned yet.

But I can upload Endorfun if it's abandoned.

I can also upload Gabriel Knight 1 (patched).

Gabriel Knight 1 if under 150 MB upload it on FTP otherwise upload somewhere and post Url in ISO CELLAR.

Frodo 28-05-2009 08:13 PM

Okay. Gabriel Knight is uploaded to ftp server. I took out an audio file, so it's only 75 MB now. It still seems to work fine though. :)

It's also patched, so you don't need cd in drive. :OK:

I'll try and find some time to review it, but if someone else wants to review it first, that's fine. :max:

Did you play this rip from start to end? Gabriel Knight is known to have problems even in the original version, so I would recommend extensive testing.. :oh:

Frodo 29-05-2009 02:28 AM

The full version plays withe no problems, but I'll test this rip more over the weekend. :)

I uploaded the full cd version of Gabriel Knight Sins Of The Father for ISO Celler. It's a large file - 372 MB. :)
<<<link removed, no direct linking please>>> (TotalAnarchy)

This is the unpatched version, and it's quite tricky to get running. :max:

I'll upload patched version tonight. It's much easier to work on modern systems. :)

Badonga has split the file into 2 parts though. Is there a better way to upload a file that large? :mhh:

You always can zip the files and use the 'split' option.

For 7Zip it's simply inputting 100000 in the split field. Gives you approx 100MB sized archive parts.
The split archive will recompose itself when un-zipping.
WinRAR and Winzip have also that option.

Advisable is to test the splitted archive before uploading .... ya never know.
And don't forget to upload ALL parts.:perv:

Frodo 24-06-2009 05:12 PM

Hey Dosraider

Thanks, but I already started using Badonga again to auploaded the patched version. It took hours, so I don't want to start all over again. :)

I upload it as one file, then right at the end Badonga tells me that it split the file. Apparantly, the 'Badongo Buddy' can join them back together though, so it should be okay (I hope). :max:

Anyways, the patched version of Sins Of The Father is uploaded. This version works a lot better on modern systems. :)

If someone could make a decent rip, that can go on the main site, that would be great.

cnquist 24-06-2009 07:32 PM

Thanks a bunch for taking the time to do this.

I downloaded the first version and the patches I could find online. The game seems to work so far in DOSBox but I don't have any voices. Any suggestions on how to get them working in DOSBox? Music and other sounds work fine, so I'm not sure why voices would not.

Frodo 24-06-2009 07:43 PM

The first version is fiddly. But if you have sound and music, I'm not sure why you don't have voices. :mhh:

If you check back every so often, I gave Paco link for patched version. Hopefully, he'll put it up soon. This one should be much easier to get voices - just download, and unzip. :)

Frodo 14-07-2009 08:32 AM

I uploaded a rip for Time Paradox to my folder in the ftp 3 months ago.
Can that be deleted please? :)

Frodo 18-07-2009 03:20 PM

Just thought I'd remind you of the level codes I uploaded for Flashback as well as the article for Space Invaders
Both were uploaded back in March :)

TotalAnarchy 21-07-2009 06:52 AM

Did you get permission from Retro Gamer to host the "Making of: Space Invaders" article? It's from the 62nd issue of the magazine, which isn't that old.

Frodo 22-07-2009 04:54 PM

Updaters, please use the Time Paradox Game Talkie Archive that I uploaded. It is de-isofied, and 'pre-installed' - all ready to play. Plus, you still get full talkie version.

Frodo 14-10-2009 04:43 PM

I have Interplay Anthology disk. :fangs:

Most of the games are already on site, but what's the status of:
Mindshadow
Tass Times
Out Of This World

Paco 14-10-2009 04:51 PM

Another World is already on Site and you know it.

Luchsen 14-10-2009 07:10 PM

I uploaded Tass Times two years ago, but it's not there anymore. In some way, I have still dibs on the review. I wanted to play the Apple IIGS version first, and reached a dead end there, not knowing if it's a bug. :(

And you're reminding me of all the Infocom stuff I still have to check and upload. :omg:

And what about Mindshadow?

Luchsen 14-10-2009 07:30 PM

Thanks, but I have multiple archives and even a booter image. ^_^

Mindshadow is :OK: , and I don't think we have an archive up apart from the one from Romano's "backup" collection. :)

Frodo 14-10-2009 09:33 PM

MIndshadow is uploaded to FTP now. :fangs:

Frodo 15-10-2009 06:20 PM

Yeah, it's Interplay IF game. It's quite good. :fangs:

You want to review it?

I have about a million other IF games to get through, but I don't mind adding it to the list seeing as not many other people appear to be doing text adventures.

Uploaded Indiana Jones Fate Of Atlantis comic.

It's the first comic out of 4.

Is this gonna be used at all? I don't wanna go to the bother of scanning and uploading the other 3 parts, if this is no good. :oh:

Dark Horse Comics reprinted this in 2008 in Omnibus: Volume 1. Well, we're not a comic site, but I'd say it's not abandoned, in our terms, however weird may that sound. :\

Didn't know they had reprinted it. Just thought the comics would be nice extras for the Fate Of Atlantis game.

But I won't bother scanning the other parts then. It takes ages to do it.

Sorry you had to waste time doing the first one, Frodo :\

I have something nice & rare to offer. :smile2:

TITLE: Future Boy
COMPANY: The General Coffee Company
GENRE: Graphic Text Adventure
YEAR: 2004

SIZE: 160 MB

MOBY GAMES ENTRY: http://www.mobygames.com/game/future-boy

Haven't seen this for download anywhere else, so it would be a huge 'PLUS' if AB offered it. :OK:

The Hugo engine (similar to SCUMM) is needed, but it's on the game disc, so I can supply it.

Their website is pretty much dead.
Can't buy the game, can't download the demo, can't access their forums, can't watch the trailer.

So does AB want game & review? :mhh:

Looks more for Reloaded... but if you want to have it here instead why not.

However the website with patch download counts in principle as (weak) support:
http://www.abandonia.com/vbullet/showthread.php?t=12655

You can post in Requests to get a second opinion. We could always contact the owner to ask for permission.

Frodo 01-01-2018 06:03 PM

It's not freeware, so it can't go on Reloaded. Don't know why you think it's freeware.
But if you don't want it, it's fine. Just thought AB would like something rare.
The patch on that site isn't much good, since they don't sell the game itself.

It's an offer, not a request, hence posting in the Offers thread.

Cluseck 05-01-2018 09:06 PM

Hm, while the official patches do count as a kind of support, the fact that the game is unavailable to buy from seemingly the only place where it was possible to purchase it also implies that the developers don't really intend to bring it back.

Frodo, have you considered writing an email to Kent Tessman, the author of Future Boy, and asking him what's the status on the game?

marko river 06-01-2018 05:49 AM

If the game was sold at any point, and judging by the "buy the game" link on their website it was sold, then game is for AB, not Reloaded.

I suppose writing an email is the safest option. You can still provide game&review for preservation and to give the game a justice. Providing download to the game can be changed as status of the game changes.

Japo 08-01-2018 08:42 PM

Frodo sorry for misunderstanding/missing the point that it was never freeware/eligible for AR. It would be good to have here in any case if possible. But every offer needs to be based on an approved request... Update workflow is request, offer, submission, grammar, publishing.

marko river 10-01-2018 01:21 AM

It doesn't need to be approved request IMHO. That only influences will the game be available for download - and I agree it can be very demotivational to prepare material and game is not for download.

But it would be preserved, that's one thing. And if Frodo wants to write review and provide screenshots, we can still create review page.
