Today we finally got round to adding 512mb ram to our 256mb ram amd semperon 2400 family computer.
It has 768MB total but instead of 32mb for 256mb 64mb ram allcoated for onboard graphics. Now window xp loads faster in fact every thing exept for the bios post memory test is faster. If you are hesitant about upgrading your memory and are stuck at 256mb or even 128mb with xp do it upgrade to atleast 512mb it makes a huge diffrence.

Hate to say it: but we told you so.. ;)

It should be universaly known that windows (all versions) EATS memory, and the more it gets the better it gets.

This is directed to anyone who though only CPU-speed matters

I already knew windows ate memory so I was pointing it out myself.

That's not much, atleast for my needs.
I have 512 and every friggin' drop is eaten up. Doing nothing uses up 50-80% of it. How????? I don't know. Soon (I finally received a bunch of money) I will get me that 1024 and it will be: 1024 + 256 + 256= 1536RAM. A whoppin' size, ain't it? :sneaky:

too many useless processes
look on mine taskmgr, i have 128+512 ram =P
http://img95.imageshack.us/img95/8670/taskmgr15jv.jpg http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/5162/taskmgr2nt.jpg

you can see that i dont use spoolsv.exe niether ctfmon.exe which aare usual, but i dont need them since spoolsv is printing service and i dont have printer
and ctfmon is that little thingy down near your time which switches languages when you click on it, but i just easily use alt+shift combination
i also have turned off few more services

so 512 ram on xp is enough if you keep place clean

Mine runs 38 processes now. Could you help me shut down atleast 20 of them? Your running only 15, I see.

I have 30. I know what MOST of them are. If not they're either on russ's thing or their viruses that aren't bothering me.

.:EDIT:.
Also, how can you use task manager as Run as... and use an admin account. The taskmgr.exe in the windows dir has no efect.
