It's somewhat simpler than empire earth, and you can run it on a 133 mhz machine... :sneaky:

I never played populous 2 so long, but I think ceasar 3 is a whole lot different than populous 2...

And the picture you see differs not so much from the original screenshot, except for the boat, the fish, and the tower...
Oh yeah, I guess you mean only 95% of the picture is irrevelant. My mistake! :bleh:

Totally different games in every respect. The Populous titles were RTS/action hybrids. Caesar III was the prototype used by Sierra (and various spinoffs since) for building sims: put a marketplace there, add a street and a temple over there, drop a bath and an aqueduct here--mind you link it to a series of underground pipes--and achieve the goals Caesar sets for this scenario. Then you'll be moved to a new province. Sound familiar? It was done as well for Egypt, Greece and China. They even did a recent 3D version, which was not successful, and showed zero creativity.

Borodin impressions had nothing do to with Tilted Mill. The developer of children of the nile, which has many differences and is a very fun game.

I should have been clearer, but several of the development team that made the Impressions series spun off to make Tilted Mill. Chris Beatrice, the designer, was Project Leader on Pharoah, Supervising Designer on Cleopatra, Lead Designer on Zeus, etc. Mike Gingrich, Lead Programmer on Tilted Mill, was Directory of Technology on Pharaoh...it just goes on. ;)

i think later on settlers 3 tried to sort of step into populas territory ie the gods elements special powers etc. The different tribes.

There is now a free populas project (isnt there not for old games in the open source arena LOL) but what we need is an updated 2005 populas the return ?
