I remember playing this game a long time ago but never found out how to actually win...

One of my first games, crazy plot but not as complex gameplay as the Monkey Islands. Fun time.

Loom is more a work of art than a game.... The dialogs especially are a real masterpiece. The game also reminds very much Greek mythology. The 3 Elders have their names, and roles, taken from the Greek deities of fate ( Clothos, Atropos, and Lachesis ). According to the myth they were weaving the fate of men in their Loom...

Gee, LotharGR....
How come YOU know so much about greek mythology? :P

I have the talkie verision. But the music is more worth it than the speech. Very wonderful Fairy Tale.

You can download the talkie from Home of the Underdogs, but its a real bastard to get running with the sound in sync (from my experience). I have an MP3'ed version which runs great but you need ScummVM to use it. It's 45MB if anyone wants to host it.

How do you run the talkie version without ScummVm? Is the Talkie version not a FM-Towns version? I only have the executables, only the files needed for ScummVm, so I can't test if there is a DOS version..

There are 3 versions of Loom, the PC floppy version has EGA graphics, adlib music and no speech. The PC CD version has VGA graphics, full speech and CD audio. The FM towns version has VGA graphics, CD audio but no speech (it also has several close-up pictures of the people you meet which aren't in the PC CD version due to lip-sync problems). If the version you have doesnt run unless you use ScummVM it must be the FM towns version, although its a rare sight. Why you would want to run any game without ScummVM is a mystery to me though, since the benefits are so great. Do you need help setting it up?
