Shoutbox emoticons
 

First of all, hurrah for the emotes returning, apparently they've been breeding whilst they were on hiatus.

However, would it be possible to disable some of the more extravagant emoticons for use in the shoutbox? Some of the larger ones are just irritating when used in a small area.

In particular this little guy :jaw:which makes the scroll bar jump around like it has epilepsy.

i agree, shoutbox went from semi-stupid silly talk to completely stupid and random smiley posting, but okay, maybe it's new emoticons sensation and it will pass. but even if people normally chat and somebody uses one of those extra large emoticons, whole message takes up whole box

big smileys never were and never should be in shoutbox

I agree the dancing apple has to die. I also agree the really large ones need to be 'controlled'. Then again, we could have threads dedicated to smiley-wars and general tom-foolery... The chatbox will return to normal soon. Even Horseman went out of his tree a bit. Lol

I think the premise of far too many new smilies has taken its toll on us. :whops:

I think we're all smiley'd out. No one's gonna use them now :laugh:

probably but if there are big emoticons left for use (and i don't blame anyone for using them, they are there=you are allowed to) then people get encouraged to use them, because it's officialy in the list

edit: why removing all the smileys? some of them like there were before would have been ok :unsure:

There's no option to selectively disable emoticons in shoutbox.
I can add a cut-off value to the smilie selection box that will not display any emoticons after a certain number, but anyone who knows the code for the cut-off emoticons will still be able to insert them.
It will require me to add ordering numbers to the emoticon list to make this work, will do it on Monday.

Nah, it's ok, I prefer to have hundreds of them instead of few ugly smilies.

I mean hundreds to select, I don't mean hundreds at the same time into the Chatbox :D

However Lulu is right, since it's not possible to separate ChatBox smilies from Forum ones the better solution is to delete some of the larger.
