Admiral - Sea Battles

I would really like to see this game hosted on here...I'm quite sure it is abandoned.

Yeah, I would imagine that this game is Abandonware as well, but nobody seems to have a copy!

EDIT: Apparently nobody has the Demo either! :ranting:

I tried posting a link, but all of them seem to go to the ftp of the defunct producer of the game.

Is the game Admiral: sea battles abandoned?
I can't remember which company produced it but I do remember it kicked behind!

So if you can, pleaseplease add it.

The ame has to be one of the best naval combat games I ever played, it kept the "boardgame" feeling and playability but was very advanced.

WAR! (the World Aeronautics and Robotics Corp)

You can buy it from CDAccess, for instance.

The Fifth Horseman 15-03-2006 03:47 PM

And 34 in stock. That will take a while to sell.

Good news is that MegaMedia isn't on ESA companies list, which implies no ESA protection in effect. So when CDAccess sells out their stock, we'll be able to put the game up (provided somebody writes a review first).

Is that a guarantee that it is not Abandonware (yet)?
I might as well start selling Airlift Rescue, if you get my point.

Admiral:sea battles is a strategy game published in 1996 by Megamedia

the software house seems not to exist any more, its site www.megamed.com is down.

here is what I found about Megamedia on Underdogs:

Short-lived publisher of a handful of "indie" games, including Crush! Deluxe, Admiral Sea Battles, and Chasm: The Rift. Sometime in 1999, the company was bought out by Innetix, Inc, a wireless Internet provider, and now ceased to exist as a separate entity.

so the game is 10 years old, no more sold or supported... but I only found a 3-level demo on the net, and no abandonware site hosts it

does anyone has the full version?

thanks for your reply :)

I might be wrong, bur as far as as I now the developer/publisher companies must support/sell the game to consider it NOT abandonware; in the abandonwarering.com forum I found this note by Swizzle:

Quote:

3rd party retailers don't count as they do not have the ability to produce more copies and are just left with what is left over from the initial run
[/b]
what you think about ?

edit: I just found this statement by Tom Henrik:

Quote:

Abandonware has different description all over the place, but here on this site we follow THESE rules:

1. No-one is selling the game (second-hand auctions doesn't count).
2. No-one is supporting the game.
3. No-one will get mad at us for placing the software up for download
[/b]
doesn't cdaccess count as a second-hand retailer ?

Since CDaccess doesn't sell second-hand games....I think the game isn't abandonware.

I moderate at another forum and I wouldn't consider this game abandonware.
