Hi there,

i try to play sim city 2000 on windows xp. It seems that the graphics are the problem, since the game seems to be running but the screen is messed up. After a while, windows tells me that the craphic card is not running properly and i have to restart.

Tried the book disk but how do i do that if i do not have a floppy drive?

Thanks for any help

Did you try to play it in DosBox already? You can get it here: http://www.abandonia.com/main.php?nav=programs , and in the readme.txt file of the archive are the most options listed. If you have any problems, don't forget to ask here. :ok:

I am running SC2000 on xp without dosbox and it runs fine.

Have you tried rightclicking the exe and selecting win95 compatibility?

Worked for me...

(For some reason the scroll is really slow though...)

VDMS fixes a lot of problems too, try that

what is vdm, because i just figured out the whole dosbox thing after many many hours, and sim city runs to slow to even play it any suggestions?

I recommend that you look here first. If you still have questions afterward then I'll be happy to answer them.

Also, you can change the emulation speed (cycles) with CTRL-F12 and CTRL-F11 if you use DOSBox.

so does vdm only help sound or will it help the speed...everything i have read seems like people have problems with the games running to fast, why is mine so slow

Yes, VDMSound only works on sound compatibility while DOSBox emulate a complete DOS environement.

What is your specs? I would recommend at least 1 gigahertz to use DOSBox decently...
