ok so i have looked for several solutions to this problem...

Dosbox won't help because it's the windows version and dosbox doesn't work with it!

Moslo has the same problem, this version is not for dos.

all those software slowdowns dont slow down the game they just freeze it... means it's still to fast only i see it frame by frame and the mouse barely moves!

anyway, is there anything i can do to slow it down? maybe someone could point me to the dos version or something?
thanks.

Well, there is a backdoor way you can use DOSbox to get around this...

Open 4/5 DOSboxes, that'll slow the CPU down really well.

tried that... doesn't seem to slow anything down....
i have a 800mhz p3 and winxp

800MHz and WinXP. wow!
:ot: I know this won't help you, but think about Win2000 or Win98SE :ot:

But back to your problem: We have all three X-Com games (okay the first is named UFO. Who cares?) And all those 3 version run under DosBOX perfectly.
So I think you have not a version from this sit. Am I right?????

Your problem is that, if you got a originally windowsversion your pc is much to fast. Anyway what you do, you can't change this matter of fact. Those programms which slow down your CPU are... well... let me say not so good for the life durance of your computer.

My advice is that you should download the version here on this site

Enjoy it

Which Xcom game are you trying to run? UFO, TFTD or Apocalypse?

There is a tab where you can change the speed settings of the game. Scrolling and such. This should help ya.

i ran Xcom and ufo on P3 400mhz nicely.
except that scrolling can be fast some times. it can be slowed down in game and also you can used the map to scroll arround much easier. same goes for movement. use in game control to slow it down. i am using a dos version now on 1300Celeron with win98 installed and it works fine. otherwise it worked fine vefore too (except maybe bubles were going up very quick instead of slowly).
