1st person shooter, similar too Quake 1
 

Please help me finding old shooting game I founded on CD from old PC Gamer magazine. It was very similar to Quake 1 in every way. It was developed year before or year after Quake 1 and the game has nothing in common with ID software - got another fully 3d engine with no hi-resolution or 3dfx support.

The only things I can remember is that in sharaware edition the first enemie was a zombie-clown with a saw blade. There was possibility to shoot his hands away and then he was trying to bite you.

It was nice game smashed by ID that this game is not so popular and even hard to find when you don't know the title.

Could be Chasm: The Rift. It's like Quake in many ways, and the "Joker" enemy might be the one you describe; however, the game does support VESA hi-res modes.
