According to Scumm VM the negotiations have been finalized and now it is just a matter of time before Discworld 1 and 2 will be released as freeware.

* Status

The rights situation has been resolved, and Terry Pratchett and his agent Colin Smythe have approved the source release and future freeware re-issuing of the game.

We are currently awaiting receipt of the engine source code.

Update

The latest news (as of 11th October 2005) is that the source code has been successfully located and we are now simply waiting for it to be sorted and sent to us.

This will hopefully happen... 'shortly'. :)

Summary

In short, we have all the approval needed to move forward with supporting the game and making Discworld freeware. However Discworld is NOT freeware at the moment. It may be in the future, assuming all goes according to plan.

Hmm, do you think we should already have somebody prepare reviews and screenshots for AR, so that when the games do become freeware we'll be ready and put them up straight away?:unsure:

Well we've been thinking of putting the games to Abandonia, but haven't just because of the fact it was to become Freeware.

I think the games should be on the site (either here or on AR) ASAP!
But I guess further details should be discused on the reloaded.

If it's becoming freeware then it belongs on Abandonia reloaded!

Yah, it's been discussed here.

dont put it on reloaded. its got far more of a place along with the adventure games on this website. just because its freeware and not "abandonware" doesnt mean (imo) it shoudl go on reloaded. Its a way bigger game than anything on reloaded so put it here :D

(WOOO DISCWORLD)

A. J. Raffles 29-10-2005 09:37 AM

I don't quite see the logic behind that. What makes you think that AR is only for small games?:huh:
